600hp Toyota Supra v 700hp Nissan Silvia: DRAG RACE

It’s time for an incredible tuned JDM drag race!
We’ve got Mat lining up in a slightly tuned Toyota Supra, and he’s about to take on a massively tuned Nissan Silvia S15!
So let’s see how these two compare. Starting with the Supra, it’s usually equipped with a 3-litre straight-six turbo. However, it has a couple of mods done to it, including swapping the turbo with a hybrid turbo, and it’s had an ECU tune. These mods cost around £6,000, and as a result, it can now produce 600hp! This power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Then we have the S15. It’s equipped with a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder engine, but this is no ordinary engine - it’s been fully built specifically for this car! As a result, it’s able to produce an incredible 700hp! In terms of the cost of the mods, it’s oh-so-much more than the Supra, costing at least £80,000!! What’s more, this Nissan also has one big disadvantage compared to the Toyota - it’s equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox!
So the Silvia has 100hp more than the Supra, but will the lack of an automatic gearbox prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

B58 is i diabolically bad engine. In the UK remapers no longer go near it. Its already smoking soon as its off boost so will have the dreaded cracks on the top 2inch of each cylinder because of BMW junk plasma arc type plating. B58 and S58 put BMW at the top of the engine failure rate charts and 3rd from bottom on the reliability charts. Maybe check your facts before you praise an engine thats now considered even more unreliable than the utter chocolate N47.

It's let down by the gearbox and lack of traction control. I ran 12.6 with only 330 hp in my 180sx, so him running 12.4 or whatever it was, shows you the importance of traction with these cars.

junk B58 smoking because its got cracks at the top 2inch of the cylinders. They all get this its a diabolically bad engine so is S58. BMW used the terrible Plasma Arc welding for the cylinder plating the same as some Ford engines and they all do it. Furthermore they havent even sorted the bottom end issues out on B58 from when it got used in 4wd applications so basically the extra thrust forces get absorbed by main bearing 3 & 4 and the crank eventually starts whipping. You dont want to overheat B or S58 even once or they are toast. We dont touch them now they are banned from our shop so is N47. Its only youtube guys who claim B58 is good now as its top of the failure rate charts.

Maybe become a mechanic before you talk tripe about mechanics pal. B58 and S58 are junk they are top of the engine failure rate charts

I'm surprised the Supra only got 11.8 seconds quarter mile for 600hp and moderately tuned. Q50/60s which are heavy as crap run low 11s with FBO, tune and E85. Side note, what a lot of people don't realize is the Supra is good from a launch because of the BMW launch system. Most tuned Nissans can take it from a roll.
