Have been a fan of Yamato since it was shown as Star Blazers in 1979. While I loved the old show, The Yamato's internals were always a bit dodgey, particularly in regards to the hangers and the engine room. (As if the Yamato was part TARDIS on the interior. :D ) I've watched your OTHER video showing the launch system. It shows that the "Carousel" system not only makes sense but that it actually FITS logically in the hull (The larger 333 Meter length of Yamato from 2199 as opposed to the old 265 Meter length from the original) between the outer armor and the smaller engine room spaces! And now you've shown us something I don't think I've seen even in Yamato 2199 (though I don't know if it is shown in 2202) - the landing/docking sequence! GENIUS on BOTH! I always THOUGHT even from the original that an automated landing guide would've made far more sense than actually trying to land manually! This just "feels" correct and REAL on so many levels!
As a longtime starblazers fan of the original Series, I often wondered about how the fighter planes were placed inside the Yamato, now I know. This video was very surprising and enjoyable to watch, thank you.
wow, this really shows how the entire flipping rail platform thing works!

Grew up watching USA version Star Blazers in the late 70's to early mid 80's so this helped fill in what was hard to figure out.Side note question is there a video on the top rear catapult system where WildStars fighter launched from?? sorry don't know his Japanese name role was pilot and main gun position.Great video.

@@ogoglethorp the original name for Wldstar is Kodai.
Funny how in the show itself they simply fly in and out of the landing bay.. In reality this seems to me to be a very over complicated launch and landing system for a starship that's always sustaining serious battle dammage.. Nice CGI though :)

It beats building them from scratch like they do on some episodes.
Love how you showed the "Auto Landing" cockpit view. I play around with Star Citizen, and I can tell you landing on a moving ship in space is incredibly hard. Heck its hard to land on a stationary surface!

If you haven't yet done it yet, you can snugly fit three Arrows into the hanger of an 890 Jump, and it is great fun for four pilots and four gunners to tackle VHRT PvE missions. Of course you could stick those same eight people in a Hammerhead and get more firepower, but there is a bit less magic in that.

I can tell you from Elite Dangerous that while it's good to practice and learn how to land without an auto-landing computer - it definitely makes it a lot more convenient and safe! Especially with the bigger ships.
Love to see how they do a quick recovery when they have to make an emergency jump....a lot of planes and pilots will be left behind.

Mag lock direct to the hull? Detatch and recover after jump?

Recover them from side hanger, using robot arms as fast as possible

@@manaboutit1594 that's sounds like a good possibility 👍👍

@@williamkwl6153 still seems too slow. 1 to 2 min window still a lot of planes and pilots will be left behind. Yamato isnt an aircraft carrier by design. 🤔

You know - the only thing missing is showing how the Yamato crew recover the two Cosmo Zero fighters that are launched from the catapults above. But... it's okay. Since we saw a version of launch and recovery of one in Yamato 2199 Rainbow Cluster Battle via the side doors under the catapults.
