The desire to alter consciousness has been a part of human culture for millennia. People seek substances for various reasons-pain relief, escape, social connection, or simply curiosity. Understanding these motivations is crucial for addressing addiction effectively. It often involves a combination of psychological, social, and environmental factors. To create lasting change, we need to focus on education, mental health support, and community resources that address the underlying issues driving substance use.

I watched a documentary on him a few years ago, and his mother was so proud of him saying that when he was a boy, he used to cut paper in the shape of money/dollars and stack them in his wallet to make it thick (but he doesn't have to do that anymore). The death and the destruction that drugs cause both in terms of blood shed between warring factions for control, innocent people trying to live, operate businesses, and raise their families caught in the crossfire, not to mention how many lives and families ruined due to addiction is so overwhelming. Wow!!! You made the Fortune 500 list of billionaires, but now you reside in a Colorado prison for the rest of your life. All that money and power---poof! Gone. Do you believe in God? In accountability?

Those tunnels are no joke. What tools do they have to dig and think about how long it takes to dig a 10 foot hole, let along a 1 mile tunnel..? Where do they dump all the debris/soil? Mind boggling.

And he will never leave solitary confinement at adx. He's lucky though he gets his own cell. At federal supermax prisons you do solitary confinement with a cell mate in a tiny cell for long periods of time and usually your celly is a crazy murderer.

Now Guzman is in the best high tech prison for special prisoners in the USA and he is in total isolation and no natural light and no chance for a tunnel. He goes crazy in the end.

I live in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, and one of El Chapo’s "tunnel houses" is actually located pretty close from my high school. I was still in Elementary the day of the debacle. But i think the government still shut down all classes for every school in the state. About two years ago i went to visit the house with two friends. The place is all f***ed up now and the bathtub hole/tunnel was filled with concrete. I took a broken lighter from the floor as a souvenir, haha. I vividly remember that in one of the walls there was a graffiti that said something like; "él te está mirando" which means; "he’s watching you"

The wall is more of a metaphorical thing. Basically, stop allowing people to claim asylum and then stay in the U.S. until their hearing. Only an idiot would let someone into a country based on essentially a promissory note that they'll actually show up, and leave if not approved.
