@@AbadaWeeeeeeee We will see: To each their own. I listened to the entirety of the interview and would critique what was said and what was NOT said. Pope Francis speaks of a Ceasefire in Palestine BUT makes no proclamation about dismantling Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran which have vowed to eradicate Israel. A broad Paint Brush tarnishes Conservatives on Illegal Immigration without noting the crime, the impossible to sustain reality of overtaxing our resources and the confusion which results from bestowing official Blessing upon illicit acts (Should we now Bless Priests who are Pedophiles?). His track Record on supporting Green Energy, the Covid Vax (mRNA) and his opposition to Trump while courting Biden (a Catholic who supports Abortion to the moment of birth) is an abomination to our Faith. I love his comment - "You can criticize a country's govt. . . . but not a people," as a way of avoiding being anti-Palestinian or anti-Jewish. He also exhorts us not to be "hard-hearted" and "indifferent" like Pontius Pilate and try to wash our hands of the wrongs we see happening. This is a pope of exemplary courage and caring!
@mkn2929
@mkn2929 3 ай бұрын
I don't think Pontius Pilate is the best example of the point. Pilate saw no guilt in Jesus, but the Jews insisted so he made them make the choice. Of course this was God's Will being carried out as the Jews accepted having Christs blood not only on their hands but their childrens as well. Pilate could have done more but it wasn't Gods Will, as Jesus said, if His Father wanted to exact justice He could send legions of Angels to defend Him. I note well that when Jesus told him he was sent to testify to the truth, Pilates question: "What is truth?" Jesus did not say a word and did not answer his question. The silence is 'deafening'. As St. Paul preached so forcefully: "God is not mocked." Amen. +

This video enlightened me on how much the media does not interview to listen, but interviews to gain more agency in moral arguments. Pope Francis is asked ridiculously cornering questions, cut off before finishing his statements, and poorly restated by the interviewer. Pope Francis did better at handling that than many others leaders I've seen.

What organizations like 60 minutes are about is self service... What 60 minutes owes its listeners is reading the Church's spoken word and listening to its belief not asking loaded one sided questions. Pope Francis is what a Pope should be; holding the line, a balance in a good way, between tradition and human change and progress. Not being either too traditional or too modern. It is a delicate balance and he does it well. He also comes across as human and compassionate, not judgmental or authoritarian. These attitudes are much needed, and often in short supply today, in politics, and in all walks of life. A great interview, the interviewer hit all the right notes. Please know the church accepts all people. Anyone can walk into church. But don’t ask for approval on the way you live life? If you think you are living life how you should, why seek approval unless you are doing something wrong? Ppl don’t go to church to seek approval. When you go to mass, while it is a celebration you are walking at calvary. You are telling the Lord your sins - you are repenting, and ready to be made a anew by receiving the Holy Eucharist where you receive the Holy Spirit. So now that you know you can go to mass what do ppl mean by “Church must accept all…like gay and abortion”. Sounds like seeking approval at all cost when the stance is “no same sex marriage” and “prolife”. But even when you aren’t these things, you can still go to church. The doors are never close. Even sinners go to church and that includes everyone. But to receive Holy communion you must receive the sacraments and confess your sins. Don’t expect to receive sacraments for marriage when you know God does not approve. But even when you sin, God loves you like a mother would love a child. God loves all, what is love? Love is staying quiet when you want to yell. Love is loving the other without possession. Love is being tempted by sin and not acting upon it. The church does so much for women who have gone through abortions, and regret or are scarred by it. So if something is so right, like abortion - why do some women become traumatized and seek shelter in “women’s houses”? God does not leave anyone behind, ppl leave God behind. We hear to often “Walk with Christ”, when in reality Christ is dying to walk with you, while you are running away. So if you are gay, you are pro- abortion go to church with an open mind. Funny, when ppl blame the church for being closed minded. So walk what you preach and go with an open mind, listen to the Word. Keep the sabbath Holy, that is the first step, out of a bazillion things you have yet to know and learn.

Imho the reason why I appreciated the answer was because, to me, he’s saying everything gives him hope, because everything was created by God. We are supposed to appreciate what He has created and provided, and because of Him and His love and Christ’s sacrifice there will always be a reason to hope and believe and trust (as it is His plan and we don’t know what that path is). The Pope’s answer is not about judging what / who is right or wrong with the world. The Pope is showing his love of and to the world, as I believe God hopes we would all be. So to @trollsbeedhugs, to me he was saying that Christ is what gives him hope, but in a way that tries to convey a broader meaning in line with Christ’s teachings.

@@protestant77 we celebrate sunday as Lord's Day when Jesus was resurrected and complete his mission of salvation like the apostles. Colossians 2:16-17 says: “Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in regard to food or drink or in respect to festival, or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow [Greek, skia] of what is to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.” In I Corinthians 16:1-2, we read: “Now concerning the collections that are made for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, so do ye also. On the first day of the week let every one of you put apart with himself, laying up what it shall well please him.” St. Paul informs us that first-century Christians were meeting on Sunday for the collections. It’s the same today-It ain’t church without the collection!

@@alfonstabz9741 Colossians 2:16 EXPLAINED!!! To understand Colossians 2:16, I think we should first get a little more context on the verse. Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Colossians 2:14 speaks of: -Handwriting -Ordinances -Contrary & Against us!!! 👆🏽This sure doesn’t sound like God’s Ten Commandments written on stone tablets with the Finger of GOD! God’s Law is PERFECT!!! 👉(Psalm 19:7) God’s Law is forever! 👉(Luke 16:17) The 10 Commandments is NEVER referred to as “ordinances” in the Holy Bible! The Law of Moses 👉was written with HANDWRITING! 👉did contain ORDINANCES! 👉 was CONTRARY & AGAINST us!!! 👆🏽This was just for a little more context (Colossians 2:16 😃Great question! ) There's TWO different Sabbaths in the Holy Bible. 1) The WEEKLY 7th day sabbath Established at creation (Genesis 2:2,3) Commanded in God's Law(Exo.20:8-11) An eternal law for all mankind! 2) The 7 ANNUAL feast sabbaths Found in the "Law of Moses" (Leviticus Ch.23) a temporary law commanded for ancient Israel. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moons, or of the sabbath days. ~ Colossians 2:16 ▪️MEAT = Sacrificing animals ▪️DRINK = Drink offerings ▪️HOLYDAY = feast days were also called "holyday" ▪️NEW MOONS = the feast days fell according to the new moons cycle. ▪️SABBATHS = the feast days were also called "sabbaths" regardless of the day of the week it might have fallen on. You didn't hurt my feeling, brother, but please allow me to explain. The Catholic Church and the Pope are not perfect, and never will be. God uses imperfect people to accomplish his will. If you know the Bible, you know this is true. However, the Catholic Church is the only Church having authority to teach or act in Christ's name. Ordained Catholic clergy, including the Pope, are said "To act in persona christi", to represent Christ’s person. This is what God wanted. read Matt 16:18-19. Here, Jesus gave authority to Peter and all his successors. He did not give authority to anyone who picks up a Bible and reads it. This is why, since the Protestant revolution, we now have over 50,000 different churches who all claim to have the true interpretation of scriptures. And, it has become very confusion for some people. In my own personal life, I can honestly say I have never felt as close to following Christ as I have since I began devoutly following the teachings and precepts of the Catholic Church. And, I encourage all to do your own due diligence and try to understand what the Church teaches, why, and where it can be found in scripture. You won't be disappointed, and if you come home to the Church, you will feel closer to God and his son Jesus Christ than you could ever imagine. God Bless...

Indeed, we are all sinners. we all fall short. But to contradict the word of God in the bible is heresy. Awful. There is space for all people to be saved, and God wishes for us to be saved. But we must repent, one cannot live their lives and have their sinful acts affirmed and treated as acceptable. Twisted this pope is, and he is certainly fallible. He is leading people to their own damnation by his words, heretical speaking. Im no biblical scholar or theologian, but what the bible teaches must be followed, anything else is the work of man.

Thank you for this interview. I realize Pope Francis is in a uniquely difficult situation; much has been said both about how progressive he is or how much more he really needs to be, but while he must continue to push hard to reform Catholicism, too quick of a shift from tradition would cause backlash from those within the church, some of whom are already questioning and opposing some of Francis's decisions, despite papal infallibility being a core dogma of the church. Here's hoping he continues to push for positive change in ways that lead to genuine reform for an institution that absolutely needs it.

Well, with all respects to you-- the old guy did a fine job of manipulating God's message. The heart is not good, in Jeremiah 17, the heart of man is noted to be "desperately wicked." There's niceties and charitable motives in humans, sure. But inherent goodness is a lie from hell. Any endeavor at "goodness" is still sin-soaked through and through; our "righteousness" is filthy, like used rags (Isaiah 64) because no one is good, but God (see Mark 10). If man is inherently "good," what was the purpose of Calvary? Why would Jesus suffer, die, and be resurrected if people were good? If I'm not sick and dying--I don't need the Great Physician. If the world ain't dying--why would they need to be rescued? Jesus died for us all--for sin-soaked Mary, for the pope, for me and for you. For a guy in his position to be so cavalier and lazy with scripture is not only dangerous, but unloving.

Francis said "everyone is good," but the Bible says "none is righteous, not one," "none is good but God alone," and "all have sinned and fall short of God's glorious standard." I see a fairly large contradiction there from someone who is supposed to be a minister of the Gospel. If everyone is good we wouldn't need the Gospel.

Clearly, I disagree with some people who have commented. I thought the interview was good. I did not see the Pope as being "cornered," and I doubt he would perceive it that way either. I do not agree with his position on many things, but I thought he made his points cogently in response to the reasonable questions.

By my divine power, I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week. And, lo, the entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic Church." -Father Enright, American Sentinal, June 1893. 7th day Sabbath = (Exo.20:8-11) 1st day Sunday = (Mark 7:7) The WORD teaches 7th day is holy!
