A widespread problem. Here in Australia, unwed teenagers were forced to give up their babies or told they died and adopted to other families. It is so unimaginably sad
@MeyaRoseGirlАй бұрын
And in the US, unwed pregnant girls were sent to rural camps that were impossible to escape until they give birth. The babies were then taken over state lines with falsified documents, so once the girls were recovered enough to start looking for their babies, they were gone without a trace. This is unfortunately an extremely common problem. These so-called "good Christians" justified their human trafficking by saying they were placing the babies in "good Christian homes," but there's no guarantee of that. There's a pretty good chance the couple will be divorced within a few years. Adopted children a far more likely to be abused, abandoned, etc. How is that better than the kid being raised by a poor single mom who actually loves her kid? Since so many of the records are downright lies, if you are adopted, you really can't trust any of the documents, and your best bet is to put your DNA in a database and hope that it gets you some family connections that will help you uncover at least a part of the truth.

Umm..... Stolen generation anyone? My dad and uncle were on the government "hit list" because they were light skinned, due to one white grandparent. My nan and poppa had to do the midnight runner to keep them. I look like I'm fresh off a plane from England. I have absolutely nothing to make people think I'm Aboriginal, and people think I'm lying when I tell them. Because of this, Family Services NSW tried to convince me to give up my eldest because I was 17 when o had him. I refused. When my daughter (third child)!was born, they ended up getting them anyway. They were adopted out against mine and my husband's wishes (he's a Kiwi), even though they were only meant to be in temporary foster care (which I had stupidly agreed to ). Once adopted, we were no longer allowed to see them at all, and absolutely no contact. This wasn't back in the 60's and 70's. This was in 1995. One man in his fifties reunited with his mother and younger siblings. There’s also the Belgians who kidnapped biracial children in Democratic Republic of Congo with the help of the Catholic Church and several women are coming out in search of their families. The worst experience for these women is that they were forced into a special orphanage and yet they weren’t orphans their mothers wanted them and their Belgian fathers didn’t want them and that’s how they ended up in orphanages. Oh if i get pregnant I will just give him to the orphanage! Maybe the Orphanages were over run - likely they were. And since America wanted the children for Parents who desired to raise them - why wouldn't the Church seek some relief of the care and responsibility of the burden? Because I had checked in by myself, they put me in with a girl who was giving her baby up for adoption and sent a nun in to convince me to give my daughter up!!! I was livid. Such an egregious act! I was born in 1963 and my godmother was an unwed mother years earlier. She was pressured by the church and family in the US to give up her son. Her and my mother have pieced together who he is. He’s a successful Broadway actor!! She’s never reached out though and never had any other children. This scarred her for life and made her mistrust her Catholic school, her church and the community that pressured her to go away and have her baby alone. They wouldn’t tell her friends where she was so they could support her.

I'm an adoptee, as well, as is my sister. The adoption agency from Fargo, North Dakota, claimed that my sister (born in 1963) was German heritage and that I (born in 1966) was Norwegian heritage. It wasn't until we were both 50+ years old that my sister discovered that her birth Mom is Chippewa/ Ojibwa and an enrolled member of a Native American tribe, and I'm less than 20 % Norwegian. Adoption agencies lied and fabricated about the babies, and their ethnic background, just to put those babies into the arms of married couples who wanted them.

It wasn’t only in Italy but in many European countries and the US. My mother was one of them. She was forced to place my siblings. At the time that’s what you did and what happened when you became pregnant and the father ran. My grandmother though is where I cannot make any forgiveness for. She was about looks and how it would look at their church. Yet my grandmother was almost in her second trimester when she married her first husband. He’d been married prior and had two other children. Yet she treated my mom this way. She forced my mom to live in a maternity home then relented and allowed her to come home. My mom gave birth to a Boy and a girl whom she was forced to place. Sadly both were placed in separate homes. My brother’s family took kindness and allowed my mom and our family to be a part of the family. My sister though hates my mom and doesn’t understand she had no choice. She found us and had a chip on her shoulder against my mom from the first time she messaged her. My brother doesn’t even have contact with her and they’re full siblings.

I was born at Touro Infirmary, New Orleans LA my birth mother was sent to await my arrival at The Maud Billington Booth Home for Unwed Mothers , where she spent several weeks both before and after my birth. I spent years researching my first days weeks and months on this earth... I more then likely know more about my life then most of the world. What I know took years to unravel. A Louisiana baby is born in a state that still rules under .Napoleonic Rule Louisiana stands out as the only state in the United States whose legal system is rooted in the Napoleonic Code, a stark contrast to the English common law system followed by the other 49 states. This unique legal framework is a testament to Louisiana's rich history and cultural heritage, influenced by French and Spanish colonial rule.As such the laws that govern Louisiana adoption forbid any and all release of blood relatives names on adoptions documents. Thus the only way to search for birth parents in Louisiana is to petition the court to have one's records opened... due to a medical emergency ie:a bone marrow transplant... I know of only one case that has ever been successful in the state of Louisiana.

This kind of stories always touch me. My father never was able to find out about his birth parents and the reason why he was given up for adoption. One good thing about it was that there was no money changing hands. He lived his whole life with the stigma and the yearning for truth. I am sure he was deeply affected by his origin. He was socially awkward. His birth parents had several of their own biological children after he was adopted. He was the black sheep of the family. He only slapped me once, never laid a finger on my youngest brother, but instigated a couple of very harsh physical punishment upon my other brother who resembles him the most among us three siblings. I guess he took to heart very deeply about his shortcomings and the “shame” of being born out of wedlock, the sense of being second-class growing up in the only family he knew and had. My family is from China, by the way.
