The Forgotten: More than 100 women found dead outdoors on Long Island since 1976

Cold cases can take detectives years to solve, yet neither the Nassau nor Suffolk police departments have staffed cold-case units in recent years. "You need people who are dedicated,” a law enforcement expert said. “These are long-term cases. These are not easy cases. If they were easy, they would've been solved."

Non factual statement. According to the FBI, 78% of homicide victims in America are Men. Women in America are one of the most protected peoples on the planet. Women have more rights than men and they have more Women specific (govt funded) assistance organizations (i.e., domestic violence victim support, homeless support, food support, housing assistance). Hell, I'm a disabled combat vet and American Women still get more benefits than me and male comrades of my ilk. Take that false narrative if 'American women are targeted in droves' somewhere else.

It's definitely more than one. Most men detest wmen, and they are allowed by other men to do these heinous acts. The "good" men get to parlay off of these bad ones that at least they aren't like them, but it's the same with racısts. Being quiet, allowing it to happen without real repercussions, is just as bad as those committing the acts. Men create and uphold their laws, and they purposely are lax when it comes to violence against wmen. Female prisoners went up 800% in the last couple of decades, and most of them are wmen who defended themselves against a violent man..

To put this into perspective, predominantly BÌàck neighborhoods all over this country have extreme LE surveillance. I mean cameras everywhere. On the traffic lights, at the stop signs, in the residential area, taking up space in the grass, solar powered, hybrid powered, etc. These cameras remain untouched and untampered with despite everyone knowing who put them up and why. It's funny because the places this type of video surveillance is needed never seem to have it. The places where children and women go missing and are harmed the most strangely don't have that type of surveillance. The Rex Heuermann's of the world don't have that type of surveillance. Perhaps we're putting up all these cameras in the wrong neighborhoods.

There are a lot of open and very deserted places on Long Island, especially near those extended areas near the many beaches (like Jones and Gilgo). It was sooo creepy even in daylight if one missed the turning for the beach entrance. I understand there are actually cameras up now all along these stretches now but they were not there in the 80s and 90s when my friends and I went to the beaches and discos.
