yet in recent years we have heard more and more from long term customer complaints about how the quality at Hermes is dropping on Purseforum

Love his philosophy about craft. As a Chef in America, I wish the younger generations would put away their mobile devices and Bluetooth speakers and focus on craft and quality.

I wish i could work at a place like that. One where quality is the goal, not speed. Every job I've worked at pushes workers to take shortcuts to get done quicker.

Don't just wish for it. Find companies with a similar philosophy and hound them until they finally hire you. The real secret to success in life: Write down your goals with deadlines and pursue them with passion.

I loved this, honestly. Finally, a popular brand who just WON'T compromise the quality of their product. Just look around you, everything is becoming so much worse because of the fast pace we introduced to ourselves. Not just things, but relationships between people, nothing is valued anymore and no one wants to take time for anything that is not money related.

Japan has the same drive for slow perfection but most of their crafts are not popular in the west. Unfortunately, that means many crafts are being lost to time.

Good for them. If any1 wants cheaper or mass-produced handbags, there are plenty of options. Can't have everything be a race to the bottom. A single sale of one of these could support a worker for a year, and with the training and craftsmanship that goes into it, it better. This is healthy for small scale high-end productions. Costly but not expensive is right.

With Hermes you do get the quality. Brands like Channel, & Louis Vuitton, the quality has gone down. As the prices go up. FYI- you can take your Hermes leather goods to the Hermes spa. They will repair your item.

You can get one. Hermés makes furniture. Their sectional costs $83,000. An old boss of mine had Hermés ‘dining’ chairs (Chiase Sellier) in his office that run $12,000.

btw, I’m not a bag enthusiast. I’m ok with an REI backpack. But, if I had the wealth and wanted a purse or bag that was not only utilitarian but a piece of extremely craftsmanship that can be passed down to the next five generations, I’d probably buy one of these.

Hermes deliberately underproduces its most in-demand items in order to generate hype. This strategy has been adopted by other luxury goods companies, including Porsche, Ferrari, Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. It is extremely cynical and makes customers hate the brand. You are being played. Just say no.
