What a quote on his father’s headstone! “No man stands as tall as when he stoops to help a child”. Outstanding. Lifelong Buckeye here, I feel lucky to have witnessed this guy’s tenure. We all have so much to learn from this man.
@kennethdeanmiller732410 ай бұрын
I've never heard that before. But that is definitely more true than most any quote I've ever heard. I've gotten old but when I see kids playing & having a good time it lifts my heart and makes me feel good to just witness fun. But to see a kid having a difficult time, I don't understand how someone can NOT help. Back in 2007, I got married to a wonderful, beautiful woman by the name of Kim. We had met in October of 2003 & were near inseparable. She miscarried twice. Then in 2011 she was diagnosed with COPD & told she had about 2 to 6 years of life left. She passed away Christmas Eve 2015. And I had people actually say to me, "I was surprised that you stayed with her the whole time." And still to this day I don't understand how they could possibly say that to me. I loved her & married her. She only had so long to live, but I wanted to be a part of what life she had left because I loved her. I couldn't have left her to die alone, even if I had wanted to, which I never did!!! She may have been "dying" but we focused on each other & having fun together, even if that was just sitting & talking with each other. I enjoyed being with her. The fact that she was dying didn't change that. I was talking to a lady on a bus & she asked me if I was mad at God for taking her away from me? And I said "NO!" I'm blessed by the fact that I got to meet her, know her & love her!!! Most people go through life & never get to experience a love such as her & I had. Yes, I miss her more than I've ever missed anyone, with a 30 year old daughter running a close second. But that's a completely different story.

Yep, it's the process. I remember the second string QB, a freshman, taking over in the first game against USC at the end of the 1st quarter in 2016. Fumbled the ball away on the first play and USC went up 3 - 0. Then his Saban coaching kicked in and Bama won 52 - 6. Some kid named Jalen Hurts.

Eddie Jackson is one of my all time favorite Bama players. After tearing his acl sophomore year he came back and was solid and was then having a Heisman type season in 2016 before he got hurt. I was there and it was so sad that A&M game. We chanted “Eddie Eddie” as he was carted to the locker room hoping it wasn’t the end of his college career. It was great to see him out there for the coin toss at the NCG as a captain. I knew he was a steal in the fourth round. I’m so proud of him for what he has done on Sundays and the millions of dollars he has earned.

He was the greatest college coach, but more importantly he was a better teacher, husband and father and person. Ask his kids wife players coaches, never heard a bad word from any of them. To use Eddie Jackson as an example, yeah saban rode him and in that moment I bet Eddie would have said nasty things. But later as he thrived he knows that toughness was not mean itvwas caring. Nick knew his talent and he was going to maximize it even when Eddie himself doubted that talent. To be a diamond, you stars as a lump of coal and undervextreme heat and pressure you are transformed into a diamond. Nothing great comes easy. Imagine the great players who went to other colleges and never became greater. Now imagine I they had a coach like saban who never let them.settle for good but had they been challenged to be great. Talent is great everybody team has talent, difference is at bama we have the process to make talent more. That is the greatness of saban. 17 yrs, what a ride. Now even with a very good staff not sure we will ever be that dominant again. Over the decades and hundreds and thousands of coaches no team has every had a dynasty like his. Some may have more wins or titles but not at the highest level.againstbthe best competition. So before you talk about other small college or even high school, they never matched the success against the best in their leagues. Bama beat the best in college at the highest level. So it was even field. No way did saban have any real advantage in talent. Just his talent as coach
