Now we know why Cheney was selected to be Dubya's VP and why Cheney was the invisible man during Bush's eight years in office and why Cheney showed virtually no interest in running for president in 2008. Cheney was not VP to serve his country; he used his office to get rich.

@@adamsavage4155 It's one thing to get rich through politics and another to get rich through war. These chickenhawks who avoided serving in Vietnam sent young kids to war where many died so they can make millions. That IMO is a war crime. @@adamsavage4155 Yes many politicians are corrupt. The late John McCain said it best when he said, "We came to Washington to change it and instead, Washington changed us". But I blame the system more than the people because ever since the 2000 elections, people don't have a clear choice anymore. Both parties decide who will be their nominee; it's not determined by the voters anymore. Just look at 2016. Voters would have preferred Sanders but most states had closed primaries which assured a Clinton victory. The result was that 90 million voters just stayed at home because they didn't like either major candidate. As they say, if you don't like the rules, hate the game not the players.

@@jeffrose2105 you have no idea how war works. Veterans do the same jobs. For a penny of the cost. Veterans will go home with the same ptsd as any other contractor, and get paid $3400 a month for the rest of their lives. If you come home at 25years old. And live until your 65. That’s 40 years X $40k+ = 1.6million. And that’s just one benefit. Not including the danger and tax free money he or she made serving at the time. Not including the GI bill, housing help, Va loans etc. so yes. Feel bad for making $35k and getting millions in benefits. Yet the contractor went there for 1 year MAYBE, just MAYBE he was lucky to make 80k that year, and go home with PTSD and say good luck. And if they die out there, they won’t get any press about it.

I think it should be illegal for ex-military to work in private sector as consultants or be paid employees. The nobility of the service is sullied by this culling and wrangling for inside pull. In the end the entire business of war is fully embedded in government far beyond all necessity. It pays to get into fights and cause trouble. And to have these hawks running the show we are forced to pay for it in every sense of the word.
