Agree or not with CBS editorial stance , they still master the narrative and quality production unlike a few. I don’t seep whiskey myself , but this is a piece that sends you into question , as of “ why not ? “. IMHO , even if you don’t appreciate the spirit yourself , or can’t taste a single malt from a blend , or worse, think bourbon is whiskey , the single most underrated part of this piece is ….. How to foster and maintain a no crime community. By being industrious , community minded , and outcasting ill minded people. This while, hundreds of miles away, Glasgow wrestles with crime, drugs. Thank you CBS and the 60 minutes team, for enlightening us.

I'm Irish 60 and Ive had quite a few conversations about whiskey.. I can drink a scotch but nothing compares to the Bush. It tastes pure and as long as I can afford it, I will drink it.

Okay, I am scratch my head. Do not a lot about whiskey. I nave had several American Whiskeys, which I believe are blended and many I like. On the other hand, I have tried the single malts from Scotland and I thought they tasted terrible. Am I missing something? If I were to try the single malts where do I begin?

@@thyslop1737American whiskey can be made from a mix of corn, rye, wheat and barley. Scotch single malt is made of 100% malted barley. And it can be blend of barrels as long as its from the same distillery

The angels share is the part that evaporates the devils cut is the part left in the wood and yes if u smoke meat in an old barrel it will get a hint of the flavor.

@ehaaron yet French people always drink wine during their lunch or dinner and they are a country with one of the lowest rate of heart disease or obese. I believe if wine is consumed in proper amount it would be good for health. But not sure with spirits coz the alcohol exceed 35%

For years the medical community recommended men drink no more than two alcoholic drinks per day, and women drink no more that one alcoholic drink per day. Today, they say to not even one drink per day. Nothing is good about the stuff. Alcohol consumption is also one of the top three leading causes of cancer. The other two?… Tobacco use and obesity. I rarely drink the stuff, anymore. I don’t need it.

If I were rich I would move to an old small cabin on this Scottish island and become a friendly hermit and wait for for my death in a place where there is peace and lovely people . I would not influence anyone or anything except pay my taxes and every once in a while buy a bottle of whiskey !! Oh and maybe have some chickens for fresh eggs and a dog to keep from getting lonely !
