This collection, along with others on KZbin, make me think about the hundreds, or thousands of aspiring bands that made records that never got heard outside their hometowns, at best. Dreams.

And it makes you *hate* the radios, corporate promoters, and major labels that choose to promote garbage like Madonna, Justin Beiber, Eminem, etc when there is/ was real great music and talent that should have got a shot instead.

Indeed, what is even the poin of repeating 3-4 songs 20+ times everyday? But perhaps we all (the audience) are just as culpable..

Some of the best music ever written in history was probably never heard by anyone but the musician who made it, or at most a small circle of friends.

Please don’t ever remove this. I found this playlist my sophomore year of high school after coming out of a very dark period of my life and listened to it every morning before school and continued to in class. Not long after I found this my life was followed with perfect abundance. It’s very close to my heart for that reason. Thank you for putting this together and sharing it with all of us

I was in one of those similar garage bands. We played all over northern Ohio--private clubs, house parties, garages, city pools, junior high schools, high schools... even mental hospitals! No shit. Our moms transported us to the gigs in our family station wagons. We recorded a record. It was a great time! Lots of hard work and big dreams! It was a great time when music and movies drove our culture rather than IT and politics like now.

I was in a garage band during the 1960s in Marianna Florida. This little northern Florida town had more than its share of rock bands during that era. My group was called The Citations. We played the teen clubs at the military bases, school dances, proms and house parties. It was wonderful and I fondly remember the innocent excitement. I still have my 1966 Fender Mustang guitar. Other groups in Marianna included The Bangs, The Lyrics, The Rising Suns, The Dimensions, and The Younger Kind.

I think - although this is my bias as a mixed race girl born in the 2000s (tbh though i wish i was born in the 80s so i get u a bit) - now is a much better time than the 60s - especially for women and people of colour. although the culture was rich and i envy the lack of technology in a massive way, i guess i cant ignore all of the inequality, racism and the like. Although that aside i would LOVE to get a time machine and be a teen dancing to one of these bands in a house party in the 60s (especially in america - i dont think my little english village would've been much fun back then) it seems a whole lot more fun than like social media and image obsessed youth culture nowadays.

The Beau Brummels aren't very well known nowadays, which is very sad because they are probably the best US band from the 1960s. They were the first folk-rock group (pre-dating the Byrds by a few months) and one of the first country-artists (Bradley's Barn, 1968) And to add to that, they had the most Dylan-esque voice in their group, Sal Valentino. Great band!

Best collection of Garage tunes for my brain, without a doubt! Outclasses all the other mixes available here. Makes perfect sense .....when I see over 1 million listeners and counting. It took about 5-6 full spins to become mind-hooked......now I get it....Yeah!! In fact, ....I'm finding very difficult to find the song that I like least. Thank you "Sir Mod".

This is an absolute gem. A wonderful collection of songs you've probably never heard or heard once long ago. Killer riffs, drippy reverb, subtle chords, melancholy melodies, yearning, burning, pining angst...it's all here. Cruising with the top down...wondering if she still thinks of you.

Being still VERY young (14, going on 15), I still have so much time to learn and experience, and the internet has given me the ability to learn about so much, to experience the world as it is, and enjoy what could have been during history

Can't tell you how many times I've come back to this video. It's like a compilation of proto-indie. Wonderfully sedating and edgy in a way emo can never be. Happy listening. I'm drunk.

I can remember the first band I heard in the early sixties was actually a band out of a garage in my neighborhood. I was hooked!

+mod elo: Thanks for putting this compilation together of all these garage bands of the 60's. I never heard of any them or any of their music on the Top 40 AM Stations in the 60's when I was a kid. Much better than what was coming out of the airwaves of AM Radio.
