61 Year Old Sikorsky S-61N Takeoff, Autorotations & Landing at YYJ

Vancouver Island Helicopters has been flying one of their S-61s quite a lot in the past few months. These helicopters are always fun to watch, and I was surprised to find out that this one was built in 1960!

Beautiful helicopter. It's nearly as old as I am. I was 9 years old when that helicopter was built. It's probably in better condition than me. Great catch.

Wow it looks beautiful...they must have refurbished the heli with some knocking done to the body panel...it looks smooth and shinny just like a brand new Helicopter....

Lovely old Sikorsky, but hang on I’m confused - says S61N in the title, but it has the short fuselage like a converted SH3 Sea King, the fixed non-sponson landing gear of the S61L, and the cabin windows of the ‘61N…. Anybody care to explain, it’s been a while since I used to hang around with ‘61s (Ns) on the North Sea. 😊
