Went lake sturgeon fishing. The guide used lots of night crawlers on a big circle hook. Like 5 crawlers on each hook. Worked great. Try it.

Just one will work. As long you in the right spot. Caught 62 pounder with one worm
@JefferyHagen7 ай бұрын
I remember an article in Catfish Insider ( over 20 years ago 🙄) where said he used a big circle hook with as many night crawlers as he could fit on the hook for giant catfish. His philosophy was that the bluegills would nip at the night crawlers which would then attract the catfish.
@noahreineke95697 ай бұрын
@@JefferyHagenHmm. You’d think if the large fish were attracted to the bluegill, they would then eat the bluegill and not the worm. I’ve never caught anything over 8lbs on night crawlers. However, with live bluegill and cut bluegill, I took my personal best catfish from 8, to 23lbs. I caught nearly a dozen 10-20 pounders that year too.

We use one night crawler and one-half slice of bacon on a circle hook. Rarely fails and the bacon is like candy to a fat kid.
@noahreineke95697 ай бұрын
@@Eke817 No, I catch all sorts of fish, and I can catch them reliably. Not to say that a night crawler isn’t a good bait. But it’s not as good of a bait for LARGE fish like large flathead or large blues. Blues are good on cut bait, and flathead live bait. Generally speaking from my experience, and the experience of most people I’ve seen.

Dude, that was one of the sickest fishing spots ever. Places like that are something out of my dreams. An old unused dam that's just been left to nature with all kinds of rockpiles and jams and structure and such. You have to go back there.

Reminds me of fishing in the Trinity River except the water there is much cleaner and clearer. Good call on taking off. Lightning fishing rods and water don't mix well. I remember I hooked onto a huge Gar on the Trinity and it started to storm. I knew it was going to take me a long time to get the fish in. I was so scared the whole time. I had no choice but to bring the fish in to release it. Then it was 1 hour in an aluminum boat back to the dock. Never again. Lightening was striking all around us I could feel it. Scary. At least you caught some huge cats and spotted bass. It's never a bad day fishing. That spot is sick! Subscribed.

I’ve been fishing for lake sturgeon. Used a lot of big nightcrawlers on a circle hook. We never had to wait long for bites. Also here’s a tip that could be useful, while a catfish will but a real bend in the rod, the sturgeon bites were always very subtle and gentle. Even a 35lbs fish would gently tap the line so I had to hold my finger on the line so I wouldn’t miss a bite
