Amazing technique. Your video is helpful in realizing to not rush the glazing process. Also, the scotch brite material is a fantastic idea for glazing applications, and probably greenware polishing as well!

@johnnysatty Hi, I always fire covered pots with lids in place. My lids and the bodies were very tie fit, if they were not firing together they might not fit after been fired. One tip to wax lidded pot is that I usually add Alumina Hydrate powder into the wax to prevent the lid from sticking together with the body.

@TheSignGuy32 Hi, the little bottle I used for the texture was Duncan underglaze which you can buy at clay supply store easily. For glazes in the very front slides show, slide 1, navy blue inside and laguna green outside. Slide 2, copper red inside and moss blue outside. Slide 3, Ann's blue outside and glossy white inside. These glaze were made form glaze recipes not commercial.

I'M SURE THIS IS A LOT HARDER THAN HE MAKES IT LOOK, ( THE WHOLE PROCESS ) BEAUTIFUL . one thing he did that made my skin crawl though and that was when he took the metal rib and started scraping it, that was like fingernails on a chalkboard OMG goosebumps... that part was pure torture for me lol.

Hey I think if you put some sort of "ramp" or flat angled piece (like the side of one of those juice jugs) and set it in your glaze bucket you could pour the glaze on the "ramp" and it would pour back into the glaze bucket but it wouldn't splash on your piece. Just though of that while watching your video, I'll probably try it out.

Don’t you add transparent glaze over the underglaze?
@createniks
@createniks 12 жыл бұрын
@acidfriend47 The air inside the bowl prevents the glaze from going up into the bowl when you dip it. Take a clear drinking glass and dip it into a pool of water and you will see the water does not go up into the glass.

Hi, I really do love all of your videos and your time put into making them. I want to start doing some pottery and am trying to understand all of the terminology etc. I do have a question about this video regarding the underglazing. It seems to me that these bowls and the casserole would not be dish-washer-proof, is this a correct assumption? Also, another question, when coloring slips what is the ratio of slip to oxides? Thank you very much.
