No No Tom, Gideon. You got the theme of "To Kill a Mockingbird" wrong. It's about a white family. The racism aspect is only one of the many themes and relates to a black man wrongly accused of raping a white girl. The book is actually a period recollection of life in the American South as told from the perspective of a young girl (Harper Lee). People seem to only think of the racist aspect of the book. I also found the Great Gatsby boring. Even The Three Musketeers was slow, but with unique vocabulary. As with Charles Dickons, one has to have a Dictionary at the ready.
