Well done Sam - saw you passing out to sea when we were at Salum. Couldn't believe someone was heading in that direction as you have to go a long way for any safe landing spot! Don't think anyone has foiled it before but it has been done on a windsurfer some years back. Great footage!

That explains why they always have the flags and tent at the demo day sessions. Makes it easier to work out which part of the beach to come back into

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. You did well holding down a 9m UFO. My ‘go to’ is the 5m. Perfect in 15 knots with the PFI633 🤙🏽

Great video, beautifully shot and edited. Shame about the £10 a night rip-off to camp in a field with no facilities. Before the Ranger got involved, you could camp wild and for free pretty much on all of the machair there. Last campsite in France couple of weeks ago, cost us €6.50 and that was with full showers, toilets, hot water, water refills, heated outdoor pool, games room, laundrette etc.

Awesome! I could almost feel the leg burn and exposure! I would never have found that starting point again!

Haha the leg burn was real! Luckily Tiree is flat so fairly easy to spot a big motorhome 😂

Epic accomplishment, love how you filmed it, stitching in drone shots too. Also how you mention your safety gear, talk about the nervousness kiting the unknown terrain and the reminder that constant concentration is key. Very relatable hearing that from someone with your experience.

Great video. I would have worn boots in case you had a bit of a swim - I imagine the water up there is a bit cold at this time of year.
@SamLight Жыл бұрын
This was from October, it was 16C so pretty mild. I can balance/feel the board much better without boots, also reduces the foot cramp too for long distance
@DialedN_07 Жыл бұрын
Well done Sam. I completely understand no helmet, but please tell me you have some sort of flotation on your body? I didn't catch that part if you do or not.

Well done Sam... quick one though, been demoing the 657 with PS 400 stabilizer and it felt utterly out of balance... does the small 325 stab really make a difference? Cheers Jens
@SamLight Жыл бұрын
Hey Jen's, thats strange the 657 felt unstable, I find it stable with both stabilisers, its actually less stable with the 325 but a lot faster. it will feel less stable than the 633 or 684. faster foils do feel less stable, what foil do you normally use?
@jensrekittke8710 Жыл бұрын
@@SamLight Hi Sam, thanks for getting back. Am riding Sabfoil similar wing size or even smaller. Point being, 657/400 spec when accelerating focal point (bord balance) shifts forward and backward depending on how fast you go... perhaps not a real issue when riding strapless, dunno. Either way, like the Phantasm series... proper build and 657 gives it a nice carvy feel... will give it another try with the smaller 325... keep it up, like your Vlogs :-) best wishes, Jens

Do you avoid using a gopro in a line mount because of the increased risk of the kite falling out of the sky or tangles?
@SamLight Жыл бұрын
Yea it’s not worth the risk and can’t really leave the GoPro filming for hours on end. It also really affects how the kite flies, especially in light winds foiling
@erbartlett Жыл бұрын
@@SamLight yeah, i've been pretty conservative about using line mounts in light wind (or super strong wind) for that reason. i think a gopro 11 mini or a dji action 2 are much lighter, and with a ligher line mount i'd be a bit more comfortable using it in more situations. the gopro remote makes it really easy to power on / power off and film the bits you want while you're riding. could be a great addition for these longer missions when the winds a bit stronger. the enduro battery is also a LOT better for colder weather missions. thanks for consistently turning out so much fun content!
