LM339 / UTC339, AS339M-G1 Differential Comparator IC is working as Voltage & Current Protection In Computer ATX Power Supply. how lm339 woks in atx power supply. LM339 is a differential comparator. The LM339 consist of four independent voltage comparators that are designed to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Operation from dual supplies also is possible, as long as the difference between the two supplies is 2 V to 36 V, and VCC is at least 1.5 V more positive than the input common-mode voltage. Current drain is independent of the supply voltage. it latches the PS-ON command, monitors Power Good PG signal. and also checks the current and voltage for over current, under voltage, over voltage. in any abnormal condition in Computer ATX Power Supply output, it disables the KA7500 or TL494 to turn off switching. if there is unbalanced load on any one output, other outputs will raise up, which will cause to turn off power supply #atx #computer #psu

in TL494 / KA7500 based atx psu, LM339 comparator ic works as ATX supervisor ic for housekeeping and monitoring all the atx function and it turns off TL494 /KA7500 in any abnormal case (over voltage, under voltage, short circuit, over current ) it will pull up pin 4 of the TL494/KA7500 that is dead-time control pin when this pin is pulled up above 2 volt, it shutdown the ATX and disables the SMPS controller to disable it or to remove short circuit protection, it prevents the atx operation by auto shutdown from under voltage, overvoltage and overcurrent conditions. so you can modify/ Disable short circuit and overload Computer ATX Power Supply into car battery charger or lab power supply for your electronics workbench or you can make it variable dc power supply.
