playing magic at a high level is all about how much RAM you have. Just like, what amount of information on the cards can you concurrently hold in your head and accurately asses at the same time. This balance play at 45:50 is a good example. It wasn't a super smart or intricate play. It was literally on board. But thinking about it is the trick

Amazing play with balance on the stack, discarding your hand. 2 things, I don't see every play, which is why I love watchin high level players, but I do see most plays and that was awesome. 2nd thing, I would've been really tempted to keep samwise to get value. Again such a good play, you knew that with more mana, there was more that could hurt you than you could gain off the extra value. And sure enough the one ring gets binned. Brilliant!
@UCKSpree
@UCKSpree 9 ай бұрын
Samwise didn't actually do anything, because it dies to balance, and the card you get back from your graveyard gets discarded to Memory Jar. Really, the only play, other than do nothing, is what LSV did. Easy to miss it, though.

Nice draft, always nice to see boros fair cards do well in the face of nonsense decks (and I certainly mean no disrespect to nonsense). I'm also not very convinced by the latest additions to the cube, the whole domain and scapeshift strats have looked like duds and things like Najeela are just shoe horning edh staples into vintage cube where they clearly do not belong. However, I'll say that gut has played nicely for me, you might be underestimating it a touch. edit: also I just checked and there are not even 10 playable aggro warriors in the cube with most of them being very mediocre.

I don't know if you understood Najeela, but she is another one of those army in a can creatures. Watching the first opponent blunder so catastrophically in game 3 reminds me why I so much prefer the regular crew of teammates and opponents as opposed to online randoms. Honestly the professional or near professional caliber of play that has been a standard for the last couple months of cube vids has made the most difference in terms of my watching LSV cube vids. The skill gap between even strong amateurs and actual PT level players is just so massive it spoils watching casual level players and because the never ending string of blunders are hard to watch and the only wins they seem to post are of the ridiculous “I played 3 pieces of power/power adjacent by turn 3 because my pod couldn’t draft” variety. The competitive players are really where it’s at, watching randos play this badly just hurts my eyes too much.

@jeffreyculbert2093
@jeffreyculbert2093 9 ай бұрын
If you say so. I don’t recall MODO randos being much opposition, but it’s been a good 15-20 years since I grinded MODO a ton. I do recall the real pros trouncing the crap out of me when I managed to qualify for PT events or day 2 a GP. The competition level always felt more like a bell curve to me and going from top 1% play to top 0.1% always felt like truly massive gulfs. And not just with MtG but just competition in general, sports, gaming of any sort. In any case casting a Balance as the first card after a draw 7 is simply not the caliber of magic I want to see watch. Plain and simple. Beating that level of opponent means very little to me, it’s just a ridiculously obvious blunder for any level of competitive play and it’s painful to watch.

Najeela herself is a warrior AND she makes warrior tokens. So she starts to snowball each attack with herself
@setharoth114
@setharoth114 9 ай бұрын
She's still not really playable. Compare her to something like Adaline. Adaline has 4 toughness, triggers off any attack, and has more power. Najeela can't trigger the turn she comes down unless you already have a warrior, and by turn 4 a 2 toughness creature can't really attack without dying. So on turn 4 you suicide your 3 drop to make a 1/1 token? In vintage cube that is just not good enough. The ability is good but 5 color isn't really an archetype.

I think your evaluation of Inti is too high. It's an ok card, i mean i would grade it as a B-. 2 Mana and hits for two. It's abilites aren't that amazing. If Ragavan is an A+ card (imo it's the best red card ever made). Then Inti isn't more than a B-. I'm just not that impressed with the card and i don't pick it that highly. I would rather take a burn spell over it. Even that rogue robber card i consider better. I just don't really agree Inti is so good. Don't really get why you're so impressed with this card specifically. I love your content though and i like watching you. Man, inti is so much better than robber of the rich, it's really not close. Think of it as a luminarch aspirant that's base 2/2 and gives you free card selection as a baseline, and then add discard synergies with things like smuggler's copter or faithless looting and you got yourself a very potent aggro card.
