"This story involves two Hawaiian women who were evicted from class..."
Throwback Thursday: In this clip, you'll find yet another incident involving racism against Native Hawaiians at the University of Hawaiʻi, which unfortunately continues to this day. Here Haunani-Kay Trask explains an event where two Hawaiian students were forced to leave a Geography class after multiple attempts by these same students to question their professor's false statements regarding Hawaiian culture and Hawaiian history. This blatant form of racism can be seen today from the University in several ways, one of the major ones being the University's decision to construct a thirty-meter telescope atop our sacred mountain, Mauna Kea, completely disregarding our opposition. Will things ever change within the University system? I'm not too sure. Until then, let's continue to share these truths and #KeepTheConversationGoing.
