Hi Scotty, thank you for this video ! Despite its "stormy" past, this Fender Jazz Master is in a very good condition and with a moving and sentimental history. Also, not to mention the respectful, smart and precise work you've done for the refreting, makes you an incredible Luthier !

Really valuable custom color matching headstock model. Pity that it got damaged in a tornado but at the same time it got saved from total destruction so that’s a win. Love the way it was kept all original. Those are scarce. And killer work as always, sir!

tape the sides off after you pull frets, fill each slot with swel-lock, let sit until wood swells back out, then use a 1/100th thicker tang, this will insure a good solid hold and offer maximum tone thru, those slots are so done as is, maybe even fill with rosewood dust and glue/filler and recut if you cannot get the thicker tang for good solid hold

Very nice! Personally, I think that the “sideways” fretting thing is a myth. Anyone ever actually seen it done that way…? I would think that the tangs would rip up the fingerboard…🤷🏼♂️ I’ve never in my 38 years experience had any issues pulling them out any more than any other guitars. Just my opinion…! That’s an old fretting hammer from SM…I’ve got one of those…love that little guy…! Again, nice clean work Sir…!!!

Not sure what you mean by 'myth'? But, it is a fact that Fender drove the frets in sideways up until approx. 1984. It is documented by old factory work instructions. I drive them out sideway if it is a maple fretboard and it is very obvious that they were driven in sideways.

Scott, just curious if KZbin is giving you the "views" you deserve man. Some folks have mentioned that videos don't get counted as a view unless it's watched to the very end. Hopefully that's not happening when folks wrap up and cut out while the outro is playing. Really hope this channel grows and grows. So much great wisdom and knowledge here. Much appreciated man!!

Thanks so much. I think KZbin is giving me a proper tally! I appreciate your help spreading the word

That 80 grit sand paper won't take too much material off or leave deep scratches?
@harpethguitar11 ай бұрын
Not really. I follow it up with 120,220,320,400 grits to get it smooth again.

Ah. Great idea. You do awesome work. I'd love to work with guitars too. I just have to exile out of Nazifornia first.
