The Hammond B3 tone has become a big part of church tradition. We are told by some that church does not feel like church to them without that sound. There are other styles of music where the Hammond B3 is also important. Jazz organ style playing was born on a B3. Rock and roll bands used it for the power, tone, and the fact that portable keyboards were not common in the 1950's and 60's like they are today. I hope others will comment on their experiences of when and where they first hear a Hammond with Leslie. Thanks for commenting!

@KeyboardExchange true !!! The Hammond sound was also prevelant in Reggae music during the 70s in many of Bob Marley's songs and other musical artists in that genre.
