ALL-if you want to see why it’s a bad idea to add silicone to resin when used as a top coat-it can cloud your art!! Click on this time stamp and watch what happens. I strongly advise against this practice-as do most resin manufacturers. 48:25

@@CrystalsArtClasses I've finished many pieces now ☺👍 I still don't like working with it but it's really not hard. Watching this video helped a lot. Make sure you follow the directions on your resin, wear a mask, gloves and have a torch ready to pop bubbles. Also good to have a needle or paperclip to pick out any foreign material (hair, lint, etc.) that may land on it while working. Good luck!!☺👍

I want to thank you, BIG TIME, Karen! 🙌You answered so many questions for me in this video. 😇 Everything you did and said were ALL of the issues I have had with resining (spelling???) my paintings. They pitted, the edges didn't take, saw my canvas below, though I really "thought" I cleaned them well. Been trying to find answers so my time & frustrations after the "fun of pouring" would not be forsaken and so disappointing. This was eye opener having now learned (because of you) that I should take the tape off way before they cure. I didn't know that. 🤪 I don't want to mar the sides of my canvas & could not figure out how best to do that. Kudos to you as always! Love your work, your creativity & the YOU that YOU ARE! You are truly such a lovely lady. It's a joy to watch you create your masterpieces! Thanks for reading my novel and thank you for YOU! 🙄😂😍🐇❣💗 (P.S. Roxy is my parrot, I'm Bunny Hart. The technical term for the pits (where the silicone reacted with the paint) is called “fish eyes”. My husband is autobody painter, fisheyes occurs when you get oil/grease or the like left behind before you paint. The paint reacts making the “fish eyes”

Karen, Thank you for not being able to help it. You are so thorough. I had all my questions answered, except one. Thanks for posting this video. Your explanation is perfect. My question is, when you clean your paintings before putting the barrier coat on do you use cornstarch to soak up the silicone before you wash the paintings off? That’s the way I learned to do it but I didn’t hear you mention anything about that. Also you were talking about silicone and silicon. What were you doing with silicon?
@WaterfallAcrylics5 жыл бұрын
Hi. I stopped using cornstarch because it’s messy and I didn’t see a difference between using Dawn or cornstarch. I like Dawn-it does a great job (make sure your art is completely cured!!) and is fast and easy. Use lukewarm water and blot dry with a paper towel. Let dry a few hours and you’ll be ready to varnish. Silicone/silicon-probably just a slip of the tongue.

Great video! Don’t worry about the length of your videos. Don’t change a thing...except maybe invite your kitty in for more visits!❤️ I love to watch the whole process. Hi Karen, I was trying to avoid resin, and have now decided to instead use it to finish many of my pieces that were sprayed with a gloss Krylon. I have used Liquid glass over the Krylon with good results. Do you know if it will work similarly with the resin?
