This is where the Government has failed us here - they have made it easy to buy an EV, but has not followed it up with good regulations for building charging stations. It has seen a change just recently, where it will get cheaper to deliver power for these kind og stations from now on, so let's hope that will work. But the Government(s) should have been much more front footed in this regard a long time ago.

I quite like this car and how it looks but the ridiculous consumption and slow charging is very disappointing. As far as I can see this car uses LG Chem pouch batteries. Etron and Taycan also gets their batteries from LG Chem, but they have much better charging curve. Makes you wonder why. Is it actually worse batteries from the same supplier or is Polestar being very conservative with their charge curve.

18:01 Here's a funny thing. Tesla drivers can struggle too if there are no Tesla Superchargers in your route. So this isn't necessarily about Tesla and non-Tesla cars. Tesla cars can wait on a 50 kW charger too if your country doesn't have Tesla superchargers. So if the argument of getting a Tesla is for the "great" charging infrastructure, then it's zero to people who don't have any superchargers on their route. So Tesla superchargers are great in some parts and zero in other ones. So maybe they are not so great.... :)

Bjorn do you think there is a bms or battery issue which reduces amps while charging and might also be the reason of handshake failure on Polestar 2?
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland 4 жыл бұрын
No. Handshake problem is due to charge port design. And slow charging is because of coldgate

I love EVs, but my old 2009 petrol Volvo V70 2.5t, does almost 1000 kms on a single tank at these speeds. I was really looking forward to the Polestar and XC40 BEVs as a replacement, I love Volvos, but this consumption is too high and the charge rate too slow. I will wait to see how the ID4 and Enyaq compare in consumption and average charging speed... but I really want another Volvo and I won't buy another ICE car.

Not to be poiisonus in any way. But heck, electric cars are a drag. Sitting around waitning for hours to get them batteries charged. I'll be filling my dieseltank as long as there are fossil fuel around! I enjoy your videos Bjørn!

at 30:18. I see you are at the car screen and there is a 6A option with a +/- can you increase this to help charge faster?

No. That's for slow AC charging. I was charging at 125 A during my trip.
