Great video, a couple of features that pushed me toward the John Deere, first the hydro twin touch pedals, I have tried the Kubota treadle pedal and it wears me out, much more difficult to operate than the Deere. I was looking at smaller HP units. The Deere loader came off much easier with no tools. Looks like the fuel fill is in a bad place to contact trees on the Kubota. Anyway Deere and Kubota are the top two compacts in market share. The dealer also makes a difference.

I like the JD twin touch pedals over the treadle pedal too. Much easier to leave your heel on the deck and pivot your foot. But wasn't enough for me to stay with JD. I bought an L4701.

Thanks for the video very interesting- I have just got a Kubota L1-382 (I am in the UK) . It is 38hp and slightly stripped down compared to this grand L , but still a good tractor and also great value for money ( not sure if an equivalent is available in the US , the Kubota numbering system is unfathomable to me!)

That's an easy question in east Tennessee. Ag Pro has purchased ALL the John Deere dealers from below Atlanta to the Great Lakes along I-75. Prices are high and service is bad at least from my experiences. You couldn't give me anything else green and I don't want a Mahindra. I won't go to a Mahindra doctor or buy gas from a Mahindra station so I sure don't want one on the farm. Two of my tractors are already orange and all future equipment will be.

In the looking process. Must say that I think I prefer Mahindra’s cast iron rear end vs Kubota’s cast aluminum rear end. I have seen when there is internal damage to a old tractor and have concerns about cast aluminum. To each their own. That’s why they make more than one brand. Can anyone tell me anything about McCormick tractors? Do really like the throttle up on the loader as well as loader functions really smooth.

Mike McCrary I would like a cab for the wintertime during snow removal but I have put a lot of though into it and doing the things I do and being in the woods there are places I would not be able to go sometimes and you are on and off a tractor so much it would be really inconvenient hopping in and out of a cab tractor. So for me I made the right call. If I had the money I would have one of each.

Mike McCrary I have never been wanting more hp yet that being said I would probably have bought the 47hp model because it is the same physical size as mine but more hp just in case I ever needed it because I can afford it. I would not want a physically larger tractor because I work in the woods a lot. Again in 200 hrs of use I have never felt I didn’t have enough hp but because I can afford the extra cost I would have got the 47hp just in case.

@@backinthewoods2022 My family was in the agriculture since the 1920s we own Kabota skid steers and the John Deere an Cats the John Deere lifted the most I hate the Kabota because it doesn’t lift much it’s a 2020 model and the engine torque is crap it bogs the engine down an it’s hard to tare up tree roots the Yankar has better torque than the Kabota even I like the yanmar better over the Kabota any day the John Deere 260 an 280 series skid loaders have a 7500 to 12000 pound lifting capacity the the Kabota don’t come near I have a friend that bragged about his Kabota tractor being the best an few years later he was working on it in the middle of a hay field multiple times an now I don’t even so his Kabota anymore don’t know what happened to the Kabota but he got some one to custom farm for him cutting an bailing his hay 🤣😂 it’s just an other one those people you know Kabota an Toyota go together the communist people want because they can’t afford something better the engine torque number is lower than the horse power number and that is a bad engine good engine torque number is always above engine horsepower but not Toyota an Kabota 😂🤣‼️

The research done comparing on the hydraulic lift is not true the John Deere lift more than the Kabota an I would never want my hydraulic lines going through the boom because if you blow a hydraulic line it hard to change that is why thy put the hydraulic lines on the outside to service the Kabota engine is a short stroke engine the engine horsepower is higher the the engine torque which is not a good engine I never like the Kabota because It can’t lift what the John Deere can I seen the Kabota cuz a lot of problems to other people that thy traded in for a John Deere I never liked the Kabota because it doesn’t have the engine torque what the John Deere has .

Nice job, great review. You approached this much like I did when I chose the John Deere. I looked at four different products and it quickly came down to the Deere or the Kubota. I had a Kubota before and I loved that thing. It did everything I needed it to do. Then I went to drive them and operate them. The driving and operating comparison quickly settled me on the John Deere. That 3039R was ready to work. I haven't looked back, but, I have to say that the Kubota is a very sharp contender in every way and I would probably still get one if I needed and could afford two of them. I don't regret settling in on the Deere, but the Kubota is a viable choice too. By the way, I love the old Ford. I saw one of those for sale the other day and for 3200 bucks I could have two tractors ... ☺️

Nice Video but took quite awhile to figure out what you bought. Actually Kubota is my third choice after Mahindra and then Kioti. One reason I have avoided Kubota was mostly because of the cast aluminum rear end that Kubota uses (last I knew). With better specs Mahindra seems to be a better buy for me. I will say I was not impressed with the 2638 either. That is why I am seriously looking at a Mahindra 3640. Based on current incentives it will come in about $6000 under the L4060 and is better than 2638 you had on here. That said top to bottom from a quality craftsmanship standpoint Kubota is a excellent compact tractor. I think from a dealer support aspect Kubota is a excellent choice. All these small tractors need a strong support structure for long term service. Question: Are you more inclined to buy implements directly from Kubota or look for after market attachments?

Lets see what you think about your choice when you have to fix the DPF, it is freeky expensive and repetitive. I understand the Mahindra is a hard choice if you dont have a dealer nearby. In my case I got the 45 hp Mahindra, put to shame my neighbour by lifting a concrete slab that my neighbour couldn't do with his bigger JD. From then on he is calling my tractor "the tank". I dont baby my equipment it is made to work and pay for itself. I am still amazed how powerful it is for its size. I honestly wish I could compare it to Kubota but no chance yet. Cheers and great video

I guess I wasn’t factoring in repair cost into my purchase. If that were the case I would have went with a 40+ year old bombproof tractor when they didn’t skimp on everything to save a buck. I know hp is not as important in a tractor as the physical weight of it. My tractor is usually limited not by the lifting capacity but by it wanting to tip over because of being too light. I know on mahindra model that is a beast of a tractor only comes in gear driven but was physically too large for my trails and wooded land so I went with my smaller dimensioned Kubota in a similar hp and just use large implements on the back for counter balance.

Back In The Woods you’re welcome 😉. I like Richard Dreyfus - so it’s all good. I’m curious about a couple of things, though: why do you leave the stumps as high as you do when you drop your trees; and why not put fluid in your tires in combination with the weights? Oh, one more thing, judging from your ink, were you a medic? Thanks young man and do know I respect your work ethic 👍🏻👍🏻
@backinthewoods2022

Mark Marine I cut them at a comfortable height because they are just for firewood or cut for deer habitat reasons. I will cut the stump and throw it in the trailer if it’s close to the trail otherwise just leave them high and sprouts can grow off and help thicken my woods. I have just wheel weights because I had no experience with tractors when I bought mine so I didn’t know about the benefits of a heavy rear end not sure I would change it though I think I may get stuck more on muddy trails with a heavier tractor not sure though. I’m not a medic have never been in the military my tattoos are a cross and a German coat of arms. I’m an electrician by trade. Thanks for watching I appreciate it.

After I drive mine it was much more comfortable and user friendly for me. Very good video! I like how you didn’t just read off spec sheets, you applied the factors you considered to the applications you’d use the tractor for. Although one point I’d like to bring up is that the big downside to the DPF is not really about how it effects the tractor when working, but more of the maintenance side. When the time comes that it needs to be replaced, it’s going to cost over $1000. I can’t remember off the top of my head at which service interval you need to replace it, but you can find out in your manual. That’s why no DPF is good, because you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars in replacements. I believe mahindra spent millions of dollars into the technology and research to not have DPFs but still meet the Tier 4 emissions standards. Kubota is a great machine as well. I’ve operated many.

If I were to buy a new 70hp-75hp tractor today it would be the 6075 Mahindra. Dollar for dollar this is the best machine in its class (mabey on the market). The older 5555 open station was a beast and very easy to work on. Thanks for the videos!!!

I'm looking at Kubota and Kioti tractors, in the 60hp range, tough choice, both great tractors. Both have their plus and minuses.

@@seather863 that's alot of tractor Not sure how it would handle side slopes....mine is completely widened for side traverse...but it soils my pants...! I've tried track skid steers...and prefer wheels.

I jumped on the Kubota bandwagon with my purchase of Grand L3560. I have had it for a little over two weeks and have been very pleased with it. Looked at the Mahindra, but liked the Kubota better. Thanks for the review of the equipment.

Brad Myers good luck with your purchase. What kinds of things are you going to use your tractor for?

@@backinthewoods2022 my family has an 80 acre farm, about 60 acres tillable and the rest woods and house/barns. My grandparents had the farm and they passed, my dad officially got the farm about three weeks ago. The farm has been shared cropped out, but the 20 acres of woods and around the house has had minimal maintenance over the last several years (long story, short version, my mom had a stroke, grandma suffered dementia, so dad had his hands full). Now that they have all passed, dad has the time and wants the help. So we were able to get one of the old MF running and I purchased the Kubota since I'm an old softy. We have been working on getting the grass/brushed cutback, we have lots trees to get cut up and cleaned. So, my tractor is going to be used for cleaning and whipping the property back into shape. Once it is in shape then it will be mostly rotary mowing and taking care of the occasional downed tree.
