You know it's gonna be good when the harbor freight vise comes out!

This vice is handy but fragile! I broke the casting on mine first use!

@airsoft78910 Maybe, but might have been a casting defect leading to crack. I never had Harbor Freight tools though (i assume its from US). I have broken precision mill vises only, took a lot of repeated force.

Interesting considering data could potentially be stored on crystals

Why audio amplifiers use a PCM circuit when they can use a quarts crystal?

There's a 1943 documentary on KZbin called "crystals go to war". It shows how quartz is mined, processed, shipped, graded, sorted, and eventually worked down into these unbelievably thin and perfectly machined crystals. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqa9nYqNrN18hrMsi=m3mYQDC5l76xbwvc It's a great watch, and although the machines used back then might have been a little different, the principles behind crystal oscillation are the same. *edit I couldn't get the link to work, but if you search for that title, you will find it.

I didn’t expect that large disk to be in there…mounted on teeny tiny springs too! 🤯 Now, I’m really curious about what’s under the blob.

Does it work when the quartz crystal is exposed?

Above 50 MHz is crazy high frequency as a crystal oscillator - especially that big.

Love your vids, ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE MICROSCOPE VIEWS OF THE URBAN ELECTRON CITYSCAPES (what hectic lives they live)!!! But could you please, in commoner language, explain more of the whys & whatfores and maybe less of what you're doing since were watching it anyways ("using dremel to cut..."). Thx much! Great work!!!😊

What changes the frequency? Is it size or material of the crystal?
@EvilmonkeyzDesignz
@EvilmonkeyzDesignz 4 ай бұрын
The way the crystal is cut can affect the frequency, and also the size/shape as you pointed out. That being said, if I opened up the other two parts from the beginning of the video which were different frequencies, I could almost guarantee the crystal is the same between all three. The integrated circuit below the crystal will typically be programmed differently to multiply/divide the same quartz crystal input frequency to derive different output frequencies.
