I love cake, and I love my cast iron ❤ I’ve had the same problem with the sticking. I’ve learned if I use the baking spray that has flour in it… no sticking. As always, love your dish, love your kitchen, loving you❤

Sounds delicious and baking it in an iron skillet probably gives it that chewy texture. Your recipes are always so good. I absolutely loved your gingerbread recipe at Christmas. Your red kitchen is soo pretty too. You have great cooking skills and your knowledge and experience shows!!

This is a dessert that most people would really like. I love pound cake with strawberries or nothing 😁. Looks like Texas got more storms. We had them here in Kentucky too. One tornado was within 25 miles of Nicholasville. We had lots of wind , rain and lightning. Hopefully you’ll stay dry for a week or so. This is another easy dessert my hubby will love. I think i would preheat my skillet with some butter first. That would help with the sticking i think! Love a small cake like this. A whole regular cake just goes to waste here unless it's chocolate. Scott loves his chocolate. I will definitely be trying this!

I would imagine you have to be careful about the bake time on that an iron skillet stays hot a long time and it would be easy to overcook that. The cheesecake was perfection, I have that down pat even made a cherry topping using canned tart cherries in water (we can’t get fresh tart cherries), used my canning skills for that one, used cook type clear jel so it wouldn’t be cloudy to thicken, it was so good.

It doesn't make a huge , tall one like we are used to. Rather, the height of the skillet...very moist..almost chewy. I loved it. Just needed a tad of salt.

I think I'll try preheating the skillet with butter in it. I just got 3 eggs from my ladies, good idea for dating them.😊 I'll let you know how the preheating goes❤

I put the butter in the skillet in my preheating oven and melted it that way, I used 9 inch skillet too. Cake came out perfect, 46 minutes in my oven!

@@ApronstringsGayJordan it is because we don’t eat cake and stuff . It’s mainly for the holidays,. Once I started gaining weight on meds for fibromyalgia and other issues I stoped desserts except low cal yogurt and low cal pudding and less carbs. Bruce does not need sweets and carbs either.

I have found that cast iron does better when greased with Crisco vs. non stick spray.

I use crisco to grease my bread pans when making my sourdough bread. Just works better

Maybe you should have lined your skillet with baking parchment to prevent it sticking. It looks a bit flat. Did you add some baking powder?

I wondered about adding 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder too. Just that much would lighten the cake a bit.
