wow. This is the first video/pics of the canyon I've seen since being there in the 80s. Literally grew up going here almost every weekend in the early 80 to late 80s. can still recognize some of it, but it's just a sliver of what it used to be. The scene back then was more of free spirited people just having the most fun possible. Girls mud wrestling and fighting, boyfriends laughing and pulling egos out of the mud for a case of beer. I would go back to middle school and tell my friends stories of the place and they thought I traveled to another planet. So many great memories here.

ps., it used to be a lake...the deeper you went into the canyon the more shallow it got. There was the mud flats, where it went from 1" deep bud to 6" deep mud to shallow water to the lake. The men with the biggest ego and most capable trucks would venture as far into the deep mud as possible without getting stuck. It was like seeing who climb the steepest hill, but on flat. If you got to the canyon after 2PM there would be trucks all over the flats buried from the hubs to the axles and multiple trucks trying to jerk them out. The opposite way of the lake you could find every type of canyon run and hill climb you could imagine. You could spend a week there and not see it all. It was 4x4 paradise.

Thanks for sharing the video. You are so correct by stating it is fun if you make fun. If only you could have recorded that white Jeep’s first run into the mud. I think he didn’t expect it to be deep and off camber. His face went from scared to pissed in the blink of an eye. It was so funny watching that guy. Then he killed it by finding out who owned the big K5. It only belonged to the guy that talked him into going in the mud hole. That dude was hilarious.

The 4runner running the TSL competition stickies or just the regular TSLs? Seemed like they had a ton of grip.
