Great video. A tip on the gearing. You don’t use 4LO unless you are going to cross a water crossing / going through mud or climbing a steep hill. Once you pass the water crossings you need to go on 4HI.
@likal12 жыл бұрын
I see, thanks for the tip! Since I kept a pretty slow speed throughout the ride, I presumed I stick to 4LO & 2nd gear (MT). Come to think of it, went to another OHV area & based on the path, we continually switched from 4LO to 4HI (& vice versa). Thanks again!
@charminbaer23232 жыл бұрын
@@likal1 yeah, you could have even gotten away with 2WD with those conditions, but yeah, stick to 4HI unless its really muddy or climbing something steep.

Cute vid and welcome to the Jeep world. Someone mentioned Holcomb Valley but that can be a serious trail for a new driver in a stock Jeep. Definitely want min 33s and lift. I’d HIGHLY recommend Cleghorn. If you’re near Azusa, it won’t be far (15-20 north of the 15/215 split). It’s just a fire road with many offshoots that range from mild to wild. Do your homework or go with someone that’s familiar. The offshoots let you only do what’s comfortable while still learning. Further away is truckhaven (Anza Borrego) which has a legit learning area with various obstacles.
@likal12 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Holcomb shows to be beginner level, but of course, I'd definitely research trails before visiting. Cleghorn was fairly decent when I rode along a while back, I'll take my Jeep there soon. I'll put Truckhaven on the list, thanks so much for the suggestions!

Seen so many vehicles break down there.. take it slow and smart and watch other people get stuck and broke! It had a nickname for breaking trucks I can't recall.. . Eric Underwood Class of 81 Downey High school CA ✌️

How often do you trail?. I went my first time and I got stuck in one of the river crossings haha I went to to slow and stopped on the incline 😅 lol

Every so often, not as much as I'd like. Ah, lesson learned! Keep a steady speed on waterways & slight acceleration on inclines. This OHV spot is so much fun, glad you got to experience it!

I’ll be going in this weekend! How much do you deflate your tires too? Any tips too
@likal12 жыл бұрын
Awesome! About 18 psi, but it may not be necessary to go that low since there isn't much rock crawling there. I've learned that 4LO is for the water crossings & boulder crossings, and the rest is 4HI. It's pretty level at Azusa OHV, so enjoy the safari cruise. Have a great time there!

How much air did you let out of the tires?

I drive at 37/38 PSI and air down to 17/18 PSI.

Azusa is a nice. There is a nice mexican restaurant in Azusa called La Tolteca, its a good place to hit up after. There are also a lot of awesome places to explorer in southern caifornia. You should try some trails near big bear or even hungry valley, great views and fun to get to know your jeep.

No plans to make any changes soon tbh. Stock is perfectly fine for me. Eventually I'll upgrade to AT tires and possibly color match my fenders, but I don't plan on extreme adventuring that needs major mods. Have any recommendations?
