this is interesting because magnetic force decays at 1/distance squared while spring force increases at 1/d in conjunction with the spring constant k. So this pedal's tension is a quadratic function of distance rather than a linear one like spring based pedals.

@@dnadeau819 can you explain more the difference between the longboard drumnetics and axis? considering getting a pair myself but scared because i cant test first
@dnadeau8194 жыл бұрын
@@totenkult if you prefer a long board pedal generally you'll def like the long board version better. It pretty much makes a similar difference as any other pedal long board vs short board. But really for me it's increased surface area on the pedal board that you have to work with especially if you dont have your foot up all the way on the board usually. Like a more controlled leverage to the beater. I feel it's those things.
@dnadeau8194 жыл бұрын
@@totenkult and if you mean the feel of the magnets, in that sense, i personally feel the magnet is superior to the spring in most ways. The way the tension is a much less linear curve than the spring, like most of the resistance is summed when the magnets are close to each other. So the pedal isnt really working against your foot until it really needs to. I feel instant energy efficiency when playing.

I would be super curious how fast you could push them vs a spring. I can see it maybe bottoming out on the magnet as you get towards super fast. But it looks like with the support of the middle magnet in the foot board you might be able to get away with it. As for service life, I can see these way outlasting a spring without losing performance. How was the effort per best? Kinda the same? I guess that depends how you tune them right? Great video :)

Just found your channel man, yes I subbed lol. I'm 55 and when I was about 15 I was in high school band. I had played a few wind instruments the previous years in band at my old school in Kansas, but after moving to Michigan and joining the band after the school year had already began the only instrument left was cymbals, so I took them, hey I figured at least the "notes" wouldn't be too complicated lol. Now I played a drum kit at home along with my favorite rock bands like KISS, Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Ventures, etc.. but I had never played a full kit in a school band and couldn't read a single note of drums sheet music to save my life lol. The band was practicing for state finals and two of our 4 songs our band instructor decided to give us a leg up by using a regular full trap set rather than the typical piece by piece individual student percussion unit like in the other two songs he chose. Basically our percussion section consisted of Steve our senior who was great on the drums! two other guys who had really no interest in music but could hit a cowbell or other such single instruments, then myself on the super duper complicated crash cymbals lol. Month after month we practiced our two songs until we were perfect!! Dude, we sounded amazing too!! Steve was a terrific drummer and the two songs had some great music and the second one the instructor had even added in a 45 second drum solo where Steve just nailed it time after time after time. The day final came for the competition and since the State competition was only 2.5 hours away from our little town/school several families just decided to drive there and bring their student with them instead of riding the bus. We arrived at the place in Lansing, Michigan where the competition was held at, and no Steve!! After about 15 minutes of sheer panic the instructor came and informed us that Steve was not going to be there, it seems that very morning he had to be rushed to the hospital due to a severe asthma attack and he was going to be in the hospital for a few days and so yeah... now WTF? I told Mr. Metzler, the instructor, that I could play Steve's parts, I would sit in on the full set. Relieved that I was able to do this he told the band the show must go on and it would with a new drummer. We played our songs and we did a great job, so great that we took FIRST PLACE!! About 3-4 weeks after that competition we, and all the other school bands, received a cassette tape recording of the 3 or 4 judges reviewing our band and giving us some tips and talking about our strong and weak points. The percussion section was either last or next to last on the list of the sections so we had to sit and listen to them discussing the other, less important (lol), sections first. Finally it was our time and the two songs that I didn't use the full set on they just told us we did a great job blah blah blah. but for the other two where I had to fill in for Steve, I received a lot of praise from the judges as to my performance. Mr. Metzler then made it a point to tell Steve again how I did such a great job. It was at that time I decided to let the entire band know that I played it all from memory of hearing Steve playing it because I could not read a lick of drum music, LOL you should have seen the look on all of their faces, especially Steve's and Metzler! Metzler asked me why I never told him that before and I said that had I told him that he would not have let me play during the competition, which he did say that would have been his reaction lol. Now at 55 years old, that was my single greatest drum highlight lol. I can barely play anymore due to back and leg work related injuries and these pedals look like something I might find useful, did you notice them being any easier or more difficult than regular pedals? Now I never really took the drums that serious so my playing consists of a guy just screwing around lol. I have a decent sized set but I only use a single kick and haven't even played in the last 3 years after breaking my back at work, but I want to get back into playing as one form of exercise but my right leg and foot have permanent nerve damage in 4 places in my foot so that foot tires easily and can become quite annoyingly painful. These pedals just seem to look like they have less drag then the others I use, so would you recommend them to me or is the advantages of them not really worth spending the money on?

When I'll ever be able to play double kick drums I then will officially have reached my life goal. The pedals look really smooth!

Those sharp edges on the kneel and the axis position are really important, not being pick at all. I imagine play over these metal blocks being extremelly unconfortable, to rest your feet over. On 6:20 is possible to see that your foot is passing over there constantly.

These pedals have been around for years!!

Edit: if y’all check the website these really aren’t too terribly expensive. When compared to DW and Pearl. Those pedals totally suit you sir! The zebra socks are a nice touch! But seriously no springs? Magnetic rebound? The innovation that went into those are amazing. Reminds me of Mapex Black Panthers magnetic time holder. You should it out! Can’t wait to see u live with these babies! Wonder how much easier it will be to blast for long periods of time with how smooth they are...

I cannot find this pedal anywhere... did they discontinue it?

Why does he remind me of a metal version of a combo between Dave grohl and weird al yankovic. \m/
