67 Chevelle SS Pro Street build update 3
Today I got a lot done.
I started out giving the body four coats of Tamiya Clear Orange.
Then it was time to spray everything that needed Tamiya Semigloss Black.
Then I spent about an hour doing a lot of detail painting. Lots and lots of detail painting.
I finished up today by putting the carbs on the intake, and the heads and intake on the block.
Then it was cleanup time and up to spend some time with the pups.

I've seen a few that were sitting to high in the front end...possibly put the spindles in upside down...instructions are with the spindles set high so it drops the front.

I'll do a test glue up with mod podge and see what works best, and I'll let everyone know. Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you. I have a bunch of sanding before it's going to be ready for clear, but even if I have to shoot it again it'll all be good. Honestly I have more fun doing all the small details than painting the bodies. It is very relaxing to me.

Thank you very much. For this kit I did the opposite of what I usually do. Most of the time I paint the entire under chassis flat black, then turn on some good music and hand paint the semigloss black on the frame. This time I'm doing a two tone chassis with flat black up front and flat aluminum for the tub. So I airbrushed the semigloss black frame, and I'm going to hand paint the rest. It's tedious, but it gives me the best results. Then I can detail in the fuel and brake lines. I hope this makes sense. I'll take some pictures and describe my process in the next update.

I would be the last person you'd want to teach you how to airbrush. I just had to strip the AMT that I'm working on for the second time. I can't get the paint to lay flat. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm about to get a rattle can and shoot it with that. LOL

I spend about two hours a day, and use the airbrush to do most of my base coats. Then it's a lot of detail work that I've been doing for fifty years, so small close in work goes quickly for me.

Your small parts for the engine, are they brush painted or sprayed? Are they stuck to clothes pin for better control?

What I do is put them on the cloths pins so I can hold them when I paint. I will spray everything in primer, then if it's just a flat or semi gloss I'll spray that too. Then I'll go in with a brush and do all the detail work and anything that is a color of it's own (brake cylinder, carb) things like that I will paint by hand. It's quicker than cleaning the airbrush.
