Just picked up an all original ’66. I’ve been watching your vids for awhile and I’ll probably take a stab at replacing the old Mallory caps and the GE caps in the dog house. It has the death cap and the two prong cord too. So I’ll be replacing those.

Oh boy ! Here we go again. Fun. I love this stuff. One of my major regrets is that I traded off a 1964 Vibrolux Reverb for a '65 Super Reverb that I wound up not using and later selling . I have a '63 S.R. (the first one I bought back in '75) that I still use. But I'm watching these videos to get prepped to give it an R&R. Lyle's the king of amp restorers.

@@curtiseverett1671 Yep, from watching his videos I've been able to restore my '64 Deluxe Reverb, '63 Super Reverb, '56 Deluxe, '63 Reverb 6G15, and my '58 Bassman. Not cosmetically, I leave the outsides alone. They all now work and sound great, I did everything he showed us. All done within the last year. You can't go wrong with this guy.

Instead of a push pull pot to turn off the tremolo you can use a pot that turns it off when you turn it completely counterclockwise. That’s what I’ve had in mine for years. It fits right in.

Instead of using a push pull pot to disconnect the tremolo you can use a pot that switches it off when you turn it completely counterclockwise. I’ve had one in my Vibrolux Reverb for years, it works great and fits right in, no space problems.

But those are usually only 1M which is not very useful in this application. Thanks though.

@@PsionicAudio mine is a 50k w/switch same value as the original pot. I’m sure you can find one.

When pulling V1 on the normal channel to get more gain it also changes the output impedance of the vibrato channels preamp? This is why SRV tech Mr Diaz pulled V1 to change the impedance for the clean tones
@PsionicAudio3 жыл бұрын
No. You can ignore pretty much anything Diaz ever said in an interview.

you could try making sure the phase inverter input cap is 0.001uf [ 1000pf ] .........alternatively keep the bass control at zero when cranking the amp
