This video has been NEEDED. My Loctician is charging $65 per hour to redo the sections with loose ends. I’m gonna braid them down myself and SAVE the time and money. That’s how braidlocs are established, right? I’ll be just fine. So glad your Loctician gave you some advice that didn’t just involve her getting paid.

Yes - I posted this video a while ago and so far so good! The ones I took time to braid down are doing just fine.

My loctician has been locking the loose ones down at every retie. I paid for 9 inches thousands so I expect 9inches loc'd.

Absolutely. Too much money for unraveling ends

I saw another youtuber (Tunisia Ali)...She has a video on LOOSE ENDS! She says... Anything longer than 1 to an 1-1/2 of loose ends is unacceptable to have that much loose hair. It will swell up fat, bunch up or even break off! Who wants that??? I braid OR twisted my loose ends down! We've paid a lot of money for this style and the hair should be locked to the ends! So keep doing what you're doing for YOUR HAIR!! I did use a gel to keep it smooth. It WILL wash out! She also said you could put a small knot on the ends to keep it from unraveling.

@@sislockedloaded684 I'm working on my loose ends a little everyday. I'm 4 months in. I sleep on a satin pillowcase but they are still open. So I'm gonna twist them down, braiding them takes longer to lock! Good luck to us both!!

I have lots of loose ends and I hate it. I read all the comments and most suggest to leave it alone. It’s been a year since you did this video. How’s your hair shaping up? I’m 4 months into my SL journey. ❤

After looking at my loose ends. I decided after watching Tunisia Ali...I decided to 2 twist my ends and put a knot at the bottom. Like she says are is going to lock no matter what. That is what our does! It will loc up!

Honestly...I have soft, thin, loose hair. By the ending of my 1st year I retightened my loose ends myself. Took me a couple of weeks.....however I missed my loose ends immediately. Then 2 months or so later I dyed my ends 🤦🏽♀️, which also probably loosened my hair texture even more, bunched up and all. So I had to retighten yet again 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. Some I braided and others I retightened. By my 2 year mark. It has yet again unravelled and I just chopped them (I regret that too). My suggestion would be, if you can be patient and trust the process for now after braiding them. Your locs look fairly new. 🙏🏽⬆️. . . And are beautiful. It does take time. My loctician originally told me to leave them, they will not unravel pass a certain point, but I was impatient.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! A) My ends are unraveling and loc person just washes my hair and interlocs it, and charges me a lot for it. She doesn't seem to really know about locs she just knows how to do the interlocking process. Also I'm glad I found you because my locs look like yours, they are a little longer, thin and they look a lot like yours. I feel better about mine now and I will do what you are doing.

My hair is very soft, silky around the edges and certain spots. I am always rebraiding them each month. I wondered what would happen if I left them alone. Now I know! Thanks for sharing!

Same thing happened to me. I went to an African braiding salon and they charged me $80 for half of my hair. It took 2 hrs. They are much quicker than me doing myself.

I agree with you on all of the reasons why loose ends are a problem. Apparently so many of us are going through this too. It’s not right that we pay all that for our inches & don’t get most of the inches locked. Im going through this with my ex Loctician too!

I honestly think you just need to leave them alone. I have loose ends exactly like yours and my Loctician has never said that they would break off or worried about swelling. Ive also seen locs that never loc and are just fine. Swelling can come from the way you wash or even if you color too soon. Your locs are coming along nicely don’t overthink it. I’m not sure your getting proper information. With all due respect.

Thanks for this advice. It’s helpful to know because I really don’t want to braid all these and just may not get to them all. It’s helpful to know they may just be ok either way 🙂.

@@sislockedloaded684 Good morning! They will eventually start to bud and lock on their own. Your locks are beautiful! I know this is said a lot but it’s true…trust the process. Also it’s ok to get a second opinion from another Loctician. I look forward to seeing more of your journey!💝

hair naturally locs when you stop combing it. I would leave them alone tbh. If the ends do swell then you could just cut them off when your hair grows. I think this idea of perfecting locs is flawed when no hairstyle or type is perfect.

sliding your hands down your hair the way you’re doing in this video will Cause more unraveling. Eventually your hair will lock and you won’t have to band and braid. Not sure how long you’ve had your locks but I feel like this video is extremely premature.
@sislockedloaded6843 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I’m confused though how it would eventually lock if the hair is loose? Also - I forgot to mention that this is actually what my certified loctician suggested that I do. She could do it (for a fee) or said that I can do it over time. I haven’t been locked a year yet so I’m in the early stages, and trying to catch these problems before they become bigger issues. Thanks again for the comment!

Omg yes my locs are constantly unraveling. It’s so annoying and I end up losing length when they break
@sislockedloaded68411 ай бұрын
I’ve found it helps to keep the ends banded and moisture occasionally as well.

My locs are super new but, so far, I like the lose ends because it kinda adds to my wavy bob when it's styled and has a nice coil when I just need moisture. I think I'm looking ahead to once everything will be locked and thinking about how there'll be no little coils then.

Yeah I don’t mind a little of the ends loose but I had 4-5 inches loose (and continuing to unravel) in some cases.

Curly ends is a suggestion

I’m only 5 weeks in and I have loose curly ends. My loctician said they will eventually lock. So I’m gonna be patient. My question is this… Given the locs are already small and not easy to grab 3 sections for braiding, why 2 strand twist it?
@sislockedloaded6843 жыл бұрын
Good question: I figured the braiding will make it last longer. I was thinking the two strand twists may come loose.
