670 hp Supercharged LT4 Powered Bertone Volvo | Roid Rage!!!

Shooting with Eric Curran from West Coast Exotic Cars is always a blast but this one was extra special and is currently one of my favorite videos we've ever made. He took his dads Volvo 262 with the Bertone Design, dropped in a dry sump supercharged LT4 from a C6 Z06 Corvette, did a semi custom interior and we took it out and blew the tires off!! Plus, Eric is a former pro driver including winning in DPI/prototype class as well as winning Petit Le Mans so he might know a thing or two about driving!

The 262C was designed in-house by Volvo's Jan Wilsgaard, but largely built by Bertone in Turin for the 1977-1981 model years. So not designed by Bertone, it was just built there.

Please don't mess with bigger wheels! I love the Turbo OEM wheels. Maybe just have them widened? The 17" size fits the car so well.

Don’t chop up the body. Tub the rears with wider 17’s and keep the body stock.what a great thing to do to show respect to his dad’s efforts.

Please don't change the wheels, the newer factory wheels are perfect. Just widen the rears so you can fit a wider tire. That'll also cure the fact that they sit way too far inside the fender. But absolutely fantastic car.

This brings back memories. In the mid eighties, I built a low mileage, black on black '78 Bertone, with a tunedport 355 w/NOS, cam, and a B-W T-5. Took me almost a year. What a fun car. Had good success on the show circuit. Drove it everyday in the summer. Slam you in the seat at 100mph, but got a little squirrelly above 145mph (air would get underneath it) had to make sure it was pointing straight ahead when you pulled the trigger. Flat hood, '86 bumpers and grill and headlights. Even had A/C. Drove it for a few years and spanked many a Corvette and Mustang 5.0. One of my best builds.

This car is a nasteee sleeper; close the exhaust valves....and say goodbye to many a wanna be Hot Rod, without much effort (provided you get'er to hook). I'm a volvo guy and i love that his father chose to use a Bertone for his dream build. In all black it looks like a European Grand National those beautiful 80's body lines. That's why pops went with the grand national v6. Now its complete get the wheels stepped up and wider to 18 and tub the rear .

Eric, your dad sir, is a badass. He built that car spot on and fyi Shawn Grand Nationals would easily run in the 11's with bolt on adds and quite possibly this car could've been faster with the GN powerplant because it might have hooked up better.

That car is so sweet. Something that would help these new drivers is go race dirt track and tune the car yourself like I did. It taught me how to diagnose what was going on with the car and how to fix it.

I remember years (more than twenty) ago when Tom Cruise brought his converted Volvo Wagon to set. Common conversion at that time with one vendor offering turnkey converted cars. Most sold were wagons, the coolest.

In the 90’s I had a 760 turbo converted with a small block Chevy roller cam big intake and carb T5 borgwarner 5 speed transmission it was such a badass sleeper✊

Hey Shawn, I remember working on them back in the 80’s. In Philadelphia, Bertone’s were common maybe because of the University Prof’s thinking they had a legitimate street muscle. Lol, I will always defer to a 69 L88 with Sidepipes as legitimate Street Muscle. Maybe someone can put a stock one on your show. Thank You 🙏

The current rims you have look almost a little too big for the wheel openings but still look kind of stock. But if you go with a 19 OR 20 inch that will be the end of any actual sleeper look. Great car, thanks for making the video.

Ive seen several Volvo conversions most just don’t appeal to me, i get what was involved with the conversion but I’ve seen four doors and wagons and they just aren’t good looking to me leaving me asking why did you do it but looks are subjective. However, this one i really like and actually looks good. Nice job and nice car!

Man thar LT4 sounds nice. I love my LSX and LSA supercharged ans my suoercharged LS3 but the LT4's sound really nice stock also. The volvo is well done, not over the top just a really nice tough sleeper. When i go out in my LSx powered ute and i floor it like that, my wife isnt always as happy but she's coming around 😏😎

Mini tubs, might as well get a narrowed 9 inch for shits n giggles. Pretty cool build definitely something unique. Not a fan of the alcantera , I think that LT 4 can carry the extra weight of nice leather. Watching Sean pull it out of the garage. It almost reminds me of a Bentley R turbo w/Bertone styling window treatment. That’s going to be next level ridiculous with the pulley upgrade an E 85 and they could easily make 900 hp with the right parts. As you know I’m sure
