Excellent presentation Hamish, I have no issues with Brendan Rodgers coming back as manager and when Ange left, I really didn’t think we would get another premiership manager in place as a replacement. I don’t think that what Ange has done is any different than what Brendan did, yes the timings were very different but Ange said he was here for a long time, but yet he has walked away from Champions League Football for money.
@Spirit-Of-The-Age Жыл бұрын
Well said Hamish about this appointment being seen from the players perspective. They will be both relieved and delighted with Brendan now taking over. He did after all manage over some of the biggest names in football when he was manager of England's most succesful football club (Liverpool) and he almost had them win the Premiership then too (2nd place and only 2 points behind winners Man City in the 2013 to 2014 season)
@fletap7782 Жыл бұрын
Hamish, well reasoned and fantastic appointment. I heard people talking about a range of coaches but there was always a risk. You must congratulate the CEO and Chairman because it is clear that their two important criteria were 1. the coach had to be a winner - that is the Celtic way and 2. continuity. Rodgers was the only candidate who was an obvious winner - all others do not have his pedigree. Ange left the club in a great position both financially and football wise and it was critical to continue on that path. It was great following Celtic whilst Ange was here and there was some great football - now I move on and to tune into the spurs forums. All the best from down-under.

Typical comments. Ange bought the best style of play and winning trophies to a team that was a total basket case. Kept the focus on the team and its achievements for everyone to enjoy the celebrations. Never signed nor asked for a long term contract and when the season was over and a bigger league came calling he accepted as every worker wanting a promotion has the right to take. Putting things in perspective here.. If someone offered you a career move to the same Job but with double or treble the wage.. it’s a no brainer.. most of us would be out the door in a flash and sprinting to sign on… Yes BR left us high and dry but really. We don’t know what was happening behind the scenes.. the team had stopped performing so maybe it wasn’t a surprise to them.. remember the last few games under Ange his team took the foot off the gas before again applying themselves in the Cup final and last league game.. maybe they knew Ange was going.. maybe BRs team also knew… Anyway what’s done is done.. People need to move on from the past, get over it and get behind a quality manager. Celtic lucky to have him given that rangers have a quality manager in beale. It wasn't a time to try new things and gamble with other managers in other leagues, great appointment

You didn't want Ange at the beginning either so long as Rodgers wins games all will be forgiven in some people's eyes. Football fans are very fickle!

Why are you creditting the board? Dermott has decided this. There is next to little board input here at all

Yep very true. Carter Vickers is solid, but joe hart probably coming to the end of his career & the others I wouldn't have full confidence in...

I think it's a conservative move by the board. He's a proven winner with the club. I was more supportive of a more progressive step to pursue the Bodo Glimt manager. We'll get behind Rogers but can't help feel that an opportunity has been missed.

Disagree. Knutsen is 4 years older than BR and has won 2 trophies in 28 years as a manager. Thats not a risky appointment, thats an insane appointment.

I think the affection/love is gone for a big chunk of Celts and it’s more just business now which is fair enough. Or just still hatred to the guy which again understand but I think he just needs our backing now to build on what Ange has done. For sure the most sensible candidate out of the lot though so let’s see what’s to come, if our first transfer is Daniel Amartey like I’ve seen some mentions of though I’ll be f**kin raging 😂

Celtic is a business. Has been for a long time. Just look at the pricenof merchandise or the price of a pie or bovril. You get stiffed rotten. All the biggest clubs are the same

I understand the 'let's get behind the manager' idealism. But I just can't at the moment. And to say you have to give him credit to him for coming back, I think that just points to the arrogance of the man. Maybe in time I'll have no choice but to accept it but right now, far from happy.

Also does anyone realise that BR completely changed the infrastructure of the club first time round? The GB are so up their own arse they think they are bigger than the club! Wind yer necks in. Celtic football club isn't all about buckfast, pyro and banners. Get with the team or sod off. Unbroken club since 1888 not a 13 year old band of bangers. Let's have it right. 🍀

He's got all the buzzwords pre planned for the first press conference to get the most gullible and lowest IQ football fans back onside "I'm here for the long term, I'm a Celtic man and I'd never leave you" "I'll get you to a European final!" "I'll win you trebles!"

Lads and lassies. All that matters is our club moving forward and winning. That’s it. Rogers is the best we could get. He will be brilliant. Don’t let the bad feelings from the past destroy our future. We have the Real Rangers, no laughing at the back, to destroy remember and they are coming with their latest messiah and the 8th Revolution. Let’s get real and let’s get tore in. HH

Hardly a mention of peter lawwell. Wouldn't give Brendan the money to strengthen so whys he escaping criticism? Yes we were all angry at Rodgers leaving but lawwell was the problem and still is if you ask me
