Pretty incredible the parts that are available today that were often not available from Yamaha even when bikes were current models. Personally, I would have set worm into case and put lever slightly down so it could have some free play in cable and move to 90 degree position of maximum leverage when all the slack is taken up. It's pretty neat that your doing all the 'donkey work' for anyone wanting to do restoration or repair and searching out new parts

Yes sir, the aftermarket has really stepped up to supply some high demand parts. I am thankful that they have too. I'm sure there are many to accomplish this task, I just elected to follow the manufactures instructions, work out well. There are a lot of folks that just don't know how to fix it, or don't know where to find the parts. My hope is these videos can help. I am no pro for sure and lots of the viewers teach me new ways and turn me on to suppliers too. Lots of good folks out there. Thanks for hanging out in the shop with me.

@@montana2strokeracer It's actually pretty cool to see the things your doing and unlike some video producers your showing good procedures . (not 'something that kinda worked' but is really just a bodge and not even close to anything factory wanted) Just finding parts can be a major challenge (not sure if I mentioned last bike I 'resto-modded' was a 1965 Suzuki T305 in 2015?) Took a long time to find some parts and longer to find something that could be adapted to work plus some things I just made. Chris wanted to run without front mudguard so I made an EGLI style fork brace from 1/2" aluminium plate and some thick wall 1/2" dia stainless steel tube I had. As I've worked on many different manufacturers machines over 50+ years a few things could be tweaked to make things better or easier but they are not in any service manual I've ever seen so I make comments. (of course, sometimes I just make comments )

Just reassembled my RT2 and turns out i need a ball on the other end. Can't find it anywhere so am probably going to improvise. It's not easy getting parts in Australia

That ball should still be available from your Yamaha dealer. Hope you get it going. Those are nice bikes.
