Do it the right way. You know what will happen with both directions you can go. Either you want to save it and fix all the problem areas before they progress to major problems or you want to rush it and throw it together for a joy ride until it falls apart then you either scrap it or take it all back apart and fix more problems that got way worse. I think you are smart enough to know the right way to do it I can tell it is eating at you but look at the pulse side it will give you a lot more content doing it the right way. My vote is a easy one, Fix all the areas that will be a pain in the ass when everything gets in the way after install. I just did the exact same thing to my 66 nova wagon. Regardless you will be a lot more happy with yourself if you keep it or sale it knowing you did not leave it to die aka rush to get it driving. In the end you do you I wish you the best. Steve, you come from out west, I don't think you know the kind of crap people have to work with in the east. My opinion is it may be in your best interest to find your project vehicles out west and just go get them. That's what I have been doing for the last 30 years and it is worth the time and money for me. I had a brother in NM that chased the cars down , then I go get them. Or just pay shipping, probably 1500-1600 bucks to ship one east, you're right along I 40 , that's a good thing for shipping. . You will spend twice that on just a few body panels on this truck. Myself I would look for a good running used engine and trans and do the rattle rebuild. I wouldn't use the 350/400 in this build., rebuild the factory brakes and suspension, get it running and driving safely and let it go to a new owner. The rust areas you see look rough, it's the stuff that's hidden, that's the ass kicker. To you or me it looks ROUGH! to people on the east coast they see it and say WOW!, this truck is in great shape.
