Your approach is sensible. This is almost identical to the work im doing on my GTO . I opted for new inner rockers because I needed to replace the floor braces.. good work!

If I had to do it again, I would have just replaced the entire floor as a whole unit. It would have taken time to remove the old floor, but save me time and have been a much nicer end result.

Good video bro. It’s cool to see the difference between what I’m doing in the Firebird and what you’re doing on the chevelle. Keep it up man!!

Dear Sir you have a big task in front of you my car was bad too as my mother drove it year round from 71 to 96 in all. Weather an salt. She loved this car when I got it my dad an I tore it down for a full resto in 96. Then it sat apart till I got it I took it to a guy close by an had it blasted. Boy what a mess it was it had holes every where but I persevered and as you with the same passion I had will finish your project an be able to say as I have that yes I did this work an have more of a connection than someone who just brought it I try to send a pic of mine to you if I can. It's definitely been a lot of work, but it will be a solid car. Plus, it will mean more to me since I did all of the work.

Just out of curiosity, how did you tie the sides of the rear seat pan into the rockers?

There was a folded down lip on the rear seat pan where it met the rocker. I welded it in a solid bead along the seam in small sections to keep it cooler. On the inside I ran a bead of seam sealer on the inside to seal it up.

Thanks. This video is an older one, I have been using better techniques lately. I now have a tripod, gimbal, and dedicated microphone for filming. Stay tuned and keep watching for better content!!
