This isn’t a block but instead a mob, but I still wanted to mention it. Bats were added to Minecraft as a way to make strip mining easier: if you hear a bat, you know there is a cave nearby. They basically used an animal that has supersonic hearing and made it super useful if you can hear it, which I find very cool.

I got number 69: Beacons are the only flying immovable transparent blocks you can place redstone on top of, that cannot be affected by redstone themselves. Very useful when compacting redstone machines with lots of slime and honey. Scaffolding and hoppers work too and are a lot cheaper, but scaffolding needs to be supported and hoppers can affect eachother and observers.

If you wanted to add one more, you could have added Coarse Dirt! You can use a hoe on coarse dirt like regular dirt to turn it into farmland. While that might not seem interesting, this means that Dirt is actually a completely renewable resource, because you can craft Coarse Dirt by using 2 Dirt and 2 Gravel, giving 4 Coarse Dirt. And since you can trade for gravel from Piglins, this means that as long as you have at least 2 dirt, you can gain a theoretically infinite amount of dirt

Correction, for anyone wondering, you DON'T NEED DEAD CORAL or even slime blocks to duplicate TNT. People have been making videos about it for ages, but for some reason the coral fan option is the most famous one. You can just search "tnt duper without coral" and you will get plenty of videos (if not options) to choose from. I have personally used one in 1.19.2 (using only regular pistons and note blocks, not a single slime or coral).
@remcon559

But are they more complicated to make?
@retlocker98
@retlocker98 Жыл бұрын
@@remcon559 They have similar footprints, with more types of blocks is all. It's possible that the slimeblock design is easier to integrate in later game because it only has one piston as input, but these early game designs allow you to make entire farms, like cobble without slime or coral, which needs a farm and a rare biome respectively.

the reason why the leaves send updates through one another is because leaf blocks have a variable that says how far away the nearest log is to a leaf block (only through other leaf blocks). this is used to determine if a leaf block should decay or not. even though leaves placed by players don't naturally decay, the variable is still updated, so if you push a log to a block next to a leaf block, the value will change which for some reason is detectable by observer.

Fun fact about minecraft mobs: When mobs are wandering, they select a random block within a radius, set a waypoint to that block, and pathfind to it. they will not mark blocks that they cannot reach(either because it is blocked off, there is no valid path to the block of choice, or(and i could be wrong on this) the path to the block requires them to travel too far away) but the interesting part is that they will not wander to non-full blocks(stairs, slabs, etc.) but still pathfind on trapdoors(as mentioned by Mumbo), which is why pathfinding mob farms work

2:25 I actually considered this mechanic for designing a mob head farm. Needed a chamber for the charged creepers to blow up in, and for whatever reason I was too stubborn to use a moving hopper minecart as collection (wanted to be rid of minecart noises), so instead I wanted a piston to open a stream of water to push the heads into a corner with a stationary hopper minecart, and thus I planned to use ancient debris as a blast resistant pushable block.

@@superguy9834 in one season of Hermitcraft, Mumbo made a really bad slime farm, he either discovered/reasoned (or found someone who discovered) that slimes spawn even at a light level of 1, but because of changes to mob spawning behavior, hostile mobs now spawn at a light level of 0 instead of 7. Brown mushrooms give off a light level of 1, so carpeting a platform in brown mushrooms would make only slimes spawn. The entire technical MC community laughed him off the stage for how inefficient the farm was (or some other massive flaw with it) but realized that while his design was bad in some way, the brown mushrooms were a good idea. I can only vaguely recall because I only watched a video where he called back to that and not the original video, but that's more or less what happened. Edit: watched a clip where Docm explains it to Mumbo - apparently the brown mushrooms were a good idea, but then he put the farm itself at a Y-Level where slimes don't spawn. Slimes spawn from Y-51 to Y-69 and I guess it was above that.

Hey, something you may want to know, it works like the old carpet trick but it is slightly different, if you put a carpet on top of a fully grown berry bush and stand a villager on top of it, they will not move because they think they will be hurt, it keeps them from pathfinding, also mobs will not willingly walk over the top of this for the same reason, they think they will be hurt, but they CAN be pushed over it if too many mobs come up at once and shove each other forward.

The door tip can also be a fun way to mess with someone who uses pressure plates to activate doors. If you turn it that way, when they step on the pressure plate it will stay "closed" and when they get confused and step off it will "open". Best used on wooden doors since people will start opening them manually, meaning your prank can go unnoticed for a long time.

9:16 Did you know that a bug in the zombies' AI causes them to walk towards turtle eggs no matter where the mob started, when the eggs are at 0 0 0? to the frost walker armour stand; you can use this feature to detect when chunks are loaded. Minecraft loads the blocks first, then the entities, thus freezing the water, which can be detected with an observer. The ice then melts (place torches nearby), resetting the system. You dont need to use pistons to push the armor stand or smth like that, the water freezes if the armor stand is placed right next to the water. One you might have missed: An observer facing a sugarcane will emit random pulses. The sugarcane randomly checks if it should grow, but only grows occasionally. Super useful if you chain several together to create a random tick generator. Only downside I think is that once a sugarcane has another on top of it, it no longer does the grow check. I haven't been able to find a way to trick the sugarcane into thinking it has room but that stops it from actually growing. Of course, having a piston to pop off the extra growth totally works with the benefit of getting a low-yield sugar cane farm in addition to the randomizer.

The whole Enchantment v.s. Enchanting argument started at around the release of 1.13 for Java Edition. Apparently, the name of the afformentioned block was changed from Enchantment Table (which Bedrock and pre-1.13 Java editions use) to Enchanting Table (1.13+ Java Edition). Enchanting implies looks, Enchantment implies properties. This is just based on the denotations of each word. Personally, I use both sometimes, mainly because I heard others refer to it as both names. I /might/ use one more than the other, though. I'm not sure anymore.
@omargoodman2999
@omargoodman2999 Жыл бұрын
Enchanting could either be a qualitative adjective or a present participle (verb used as an adjective). As a qualitative adjective, "enchanting table" means the table, itself, looks "enchanting"; in other words it's a very good looking table. This is equivalent to saying it's a "small table" or a "red table" or a "square table". By contrast, as a present participle, "enchanting table" can mean a table on which one performs enchanting. This is equivalent to "crafting table" or "dining table". PS: In "Enchantment Table", enchantment is a noun adjunct. Enchantment is a noun, and it's being used as an adjective to modify another noun, table in this case. This is equivalent to "chicken soup" or "football player" or "diamond pickaxe".

@@Indecisive4734 The disagreement likely stems from different preferences for either categorical consistency vs traditional consistency. Those who favor categorical consistency would be more likely to favor "enchanting table" since it keeps to the same convention as other tools in the same category; crafting table, smithing table, fletching table (still needs functionality...). By contrast, those who favor "enchantment table" more likely favor the traditional consistency of how it actually got applied in practice. It's been "enchantment table" for a long time and across a broad swath of versions of the game, so they prefer the consistency of practical use over consistency of nominal category. Honestly, I don't really see what the fuss is about. Both share the same root word, "enchant" and it's clear in both cases what the function of the tool is. Any arguments against one based on "that's not how that word is used/what it means" are clearly incorrect and based on misunderstanding of English parts of speech, as I've already demonstrated. So I think people are just disagreeing and making a big deal out of nothing for the sake of having something to fight over and feel like they have a triumph.

To change it back to "enchantment" would involve going back and changing lots of code for what is, functionally, an inconsequential matter of linguistics. And same applies to changing "enchanting" to "enchantment" for the sake of consistency. And if they miss one, that can break something, which would be bad. I had three ideas for the Fletching Table: 1. Associating it with a villager converts that villager into a "vanguard" which would essentially just be a Pillager that defends the village rather than attacking it (giving it a crossbow and everything); 2. Allows you to make arrows using materials other than flint...like "obsidian arrows" (which would be slightly stronger) and "explosive arrows" which would explode on impact with the same force as a Ghast fireball; and 3. Make it work similar to the stone cutter in that it would be more efficient at making arrows than out of hand.
