How about putting a gear vendors unit on the back of the transfer case I think they make them for it and they’re pretty tough units you could split between third and fourth gear and illuminate the big wide space or ratio difference something to look into and also with the guys with the carrier bearing might be able to illuminate the carrier bearing because you’re making a drive shaft shorter something to check out this is six in row jim have a nice day bye

Great video, thanks guys! Funny how the customer is dropping $12k-$13k for a 48 swap but can't get a decent suspension/wheel/tire setup on the front to run that wont wear the tires bald on the outer edges lol

@Marlon Martinez or just use the 6 speed with a upgraded clutch and be done for a long time.
@talonp54 жыл бұрын
Ted s no offense but it sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about. You can’t just throw some upgraded clutches in a 68 and be able to reliably withstand 800hp as the owner of the truck is wanting to do. The 68 slips the clutches unlike the 48 so no matter how much money you spend on clutches it will still wear them out. And not to mention the input/ output shafts/ torque converter. It makes more sense to spend the money on the swap because rebuilding the 68 is a lot more expensive than rebuilding a 48. But I’m sure you know more than everyone because you have a $10k pos...

So you just use the pilot hole in the flex plate? Isnt the 6.7 crank a 2.130 pilot and the 48 is 1.8? I might of missed it but I didn’t see you putting the torque converter in. That seems super sketchy, unless it had a front cover for a 6.7 pilot

He cuts the trans lines in the wrong place , in order for the lines too be long enough , you cut the FACTORY lines right where they come off of your 68 so basically just cut off the male adapter on the end of the line and add your compression fitting there , other then that it’s an awesome kit

I don't really see the point of 48 swapping from a 68. For the price of the swap you could have just built the 68. I really like having the 2 extra gear for highway driving or towing. 68's have come a long way since they first came out. The are being built now to old 800+ HP

Also, you can't get efilive. 06+ only. But you can get hptuners which is damn near as good. Or just run a smarty tuner
@benbrisson94765 жыл бұрын
If your tuning a 04.5 5.9L Common rail, for the 48re transmission, to get max life and performance from, tighten the front and rear bands to spec and change the oil filter and flush the oil out with a really good brand of oil (about 16-18quarts) (I use amsoil ATF - pricey but really tough oil) if you can get an upgraded governor pressure solenoid too.... from then on, might be annoying but service the bands and sump oil (4-6 quarts) and filter every 20000 miles, that thing will last you forever and keep those rpms up when pulling, try not to lug the truck For the engine, you ll definitely need to upgrade 1. 4"-5" exhaust with Cat delete 2. cold air intake, 3. Intake manifold (if you can update the intake plenum is a good idea too) 4. Exhaust manifold 5. Coolant by-pass kit from Fleece performance (you need to drop exhaust pipe and drop the trans crossmember down to tilt engine back to install it easierly) - if budget can't do all, at least work from 1 to 5. And tighten valve lash every 60k -100k mile As for tuning.... do as duramax 315 said
@TheSiraffe5 жыл бұрын
