Imagine if DC focused on releasing its animated films with full theatrical releases instead of their live action flops. Their animated films have been consistently excellent with much smaller budgets. I'm sure they could turn things around and make some very good money off of doing that rather than spending 100's of millions on movies that maybe break even. I'm sure the margins would be much larger.

I think you forgot to mention Justice League Dark, which Del Toro was also involved in. They even had Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity series) attached as Director at one point after Del Toro got too busy to do it…kind of like he & Ron Perlman were with Hellboy 3. We know it might never happen, so it was a safe bet for this list. However, after The Flash finally materialized after a true Development Hell of nearly 10 years…it could still be possible.

@@dominiquepowell3158 funny thing is even comic book animations crossed over from time to time without establishing a cinematic universe... its more like an acknowledgement that they do exist in that world but they function in a way that they have their own spheres that will sometimes bleed into other spheres. Sometimes you would find cap and xmen in spiderman shows and sometimes supes and batman would just meet. A connected universe doesnt need to happen. It gets too bloated and unsustainble as it progresses. Its fine to have a beginning and an end. Like i said if DC wants to somewhat compete then it just needs to think outside the box, reinvent genres try not to go what is popular. Dc actually has alot of properties, it may not be popular compared to the main but so was guardians of the galaxy.

They did, trusting Snyder, but he was rushing everything. Then Geoff Johns, but he later quit. Hamada came after, but it was going nowhere with random DC movies. Now they are trusting Gunn, let's see if he could deliver and if snyderfans can be mature enough to let go of the past.

I've been thinking again, that Warner Bros should sell it's property/ DC characters that they don't use and give it to the hands of Sony. Not only it could help expand the DC universe but also usher a new era of Non-canon crossovers with marvel. I hate the direction DC and Warner bros is going with the reset. But here's how they could expand it. 1. Sell anti-heroes and villains such as (black spider, clay face, batman earth 43 and Lobo) and 2. For heroes they can add animation for teen titans, and take the worst show Gotham knights and sell the rights of Robin and Batgirl. Sony can rinse and repeat their own formula and make the best out of small things they have and put it on the big screen. If anybody should be worthy of expanding the universe it's Sony. P.S I would definitely go for a Robin film set in the Christopher Nolan's universe.

Warner Brothers are run by terrible clueless executives. These executives needs to go back to business school. Their main focus is to make quick profits without any long term vision for the company (opposite to Disney/Marvel), ironically instead of making money they always lose money on each projects. That’s what happens when you put executives who’s main mission is to only make the clueless investors happy and their bonuses. I don’t think this James Gunn reboot won’t work. Fans building up interest and connections with these new actors will take 10 years…I don’t think Warner Brothers executives have that patience.

I'm not so naive to think a business predicated on making as much money as possible even cares what others want in a storyline. I loved the Snyder verse wish they would have let him carry out his vision. I don't see Gunn as a cerebral director I don't think what work for Marvel will work with DC. To me DC has always been heavier more introspective in some ways. Don't get me wrong Marvel has its darker spaces too but, it doesn't shine in that way.

TBH Christopher Nolan is probably the absolute best director they could conceivably get to lead a live action DC Cinematic Universe. The Dark Knight trilogy are by far the best films based off DC characters ever created.

I am so tired of all of then "if only DC had done what Marvel did..." No. Many of the same people would still be hating on DC movies for other reasons. The MCU was solid yes.. till it went off the rails. Now.. the best earning of the more recent films (The fourth Thor Movie) did so by scrapping entirely the original story line.. and even then it has been derided heavily.

The joker made a billion, yes its a rip off of taxi driver and yes its the most popular villain ever however it actually provides a reality check to WB and DC.
