#69 FLOORING! Laying Reclaimed Terracotta Tiles in our Italian Stone House

We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

Somehow it’s a very nice thought that you have tiles on your floor on which other people have walked on for 100 years.

Good chances this is going to be the most beautiful house I've ever seen being built. Each vlog makes me happier than the one before. And along the way I decided to learn French, too. This is a truly life changing series, ha ha.

Perfect color for the bench! It’s beautiful! I so admire your method of construction, and your hard work. You’re creating beauty and it resonates for all of us! Please consider getting kneepads for your knees. Best advice I ever got from my mom but never listen to, and I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did ~ 🙏 Brava & Bravo! 💕🥰💃🏻

I love the color that you painted the bench in the lounge …. Blends perfectly with the stone wall ! Your choice to recycle the old tiles is such a good one … the house’s standard is “character” and the work that you both have put in just amplifies your decision to keep to the natural route in this renovation. Well done !!!! Durban SA 🇿🇦

You will have great satisfaction and enjoyment living in that house. And the environment is stunning, of course. There was luck involved in the timing and in the government grant BUT you put yourselves out there: to earn the initial money and find the right place. As architects you enjoyed the research into materials and methods, I guess, but actually doing it to such high standards is quite a different thing! You have shown patience and persistence. Bravo!
