The coins are significant, a penny means you have visited the site, a nickel means you had served with the deceased at boot camp, a dime means you and the deceased had served together at some point, a quarter means you were physically with the deceased when He died. Great video WH

David Cooley was involved with the F-111 and F-15 and eventually the F-117. After retirement he went on to be Lockheed-Martin’s chief test pilot for the F-117 stealth fighter before joining Lockheed’s F-22 program. They think he got G-LOC and passed out before angering in. RIP sir! Thank you for your service!

I know this area of the Mojave enough to drive it blindfolded having lived here for 58 years. But I really enjoy seeing it from someone else's perspective. Author Deeana Stillman, who never actually lived in the desert, describes the Mojave in her books much better than I could. This part of the desert holds some dark stories. None more gruesome than the murders of two young teens that attended an overnight party in an abandoned bunker. The military has since removed that bunker and others to prevent something like that from happening again. While that isn't the only murder(s) in the desert, it is certainly the most disturbing.

I wish I could do something like this. You should do a tutorial video on exploring for beginners, like first how to find these spots and how to pin them as you say on google maps then head out to find them, etc… I think you understand what I’m trying to say. That could give some of us a little inspiration and some confidence to get off the couch and out doing a little exploring ourselves!!

David Paul Cooley (February 15, 1960 - March 25, 2009) was a Lockheed test pilot and retired United States Air Force (USAF) officer, responsible for developmental flight testing of the F-117 Nighthawk. He was killed while flying a test mission in an F-22 Raptor jet fighter over the high desert of Southern California. At approximately 10 a.m. on the morning of March 25, 2009, an F-22A piloted by Cooley crashed at Harper Dry Lake, near Lockhart, California about 35 miles northeast of Edwards Air Force Base. Paramedics transported Cooley from the crash scene to Victor Valley Community Hospital in Victorville, California, where he was pronounced dead.[8] The wreckage of Cooley's F-22A crash extended ten miles east from the site of the accident in Hoffman Road from the Fremont Peak Road, in San Bernardino County and the debris field covered a wide area including three washes. A security team was deployed to cordon off the area due to aircraft materials that may pose health risks. The Air Force convened an investigation board to determine the cause of the accident.[8] On July 31, 2009, the Air Force released the board's accident report that identified human factors associated with high gravitational forces as the cause of the crash. Due to the high g-forces required by the flight profile, Cooley was likely incapacitated by "almost g-induced loss of consciousness" (G-LOC). Reference: Wikipedia

I just read about that F-22 crash...it wasn't the plane, it was the pilot. He was performing a high speed maneuver and lost control. He ejected but was too low to the ground for the chute to properly deploy. It's nice to see a little memorial for him out there. Also, I'm not surprised with the tweaker pads out there...I recently watched a documentary (here on KZbin) on the homeless living in the desert all around Barstow, Lancaster and the high desert north of Los Angeles...they're basically given free rein. The local law enforcement hasn't the recourses to do anything and the Federal Gov. is doing nothing about it, either. Most of them squat closer to the towns but obviously some need a bit more elbow room. It's nearly 100% meth...a poison that destroys their brains. The potency of it these days is much more than the "biker speed" of the 70s and 80s. It actually makes them feel like the way their living, is the way to live.

Pilot David Cooley lost counciousness during maneuvers. When he regained it he was going just over 1000 mph and when he ejected his plane hit the ground 1.3 seconds later. The maximum speed you can eject from that plane and expect to survive is 750-800 mph. At the speed he ejected at the flail injuries were too extreme and he didn't survive.

Hi, I live in Nevada but I have family that lives in the area you are at. They live in town. The fenced area you showed is private property and does NOT belong to tweaker. Just so you know BLM sold a bunch of 20 acre partials at public auctions. My brother and I are still paying property taxes on the property annually. My wife and I even lived there for a year, off the grid, in an RV. We still think it was one of the best years in our 30 years of marriage. You must have skills in order to survive out there and a small steady income. There are a lot of partials out there, most of them not fenced or marked. The public has really destroyed and ransacked the place. Thanks for the showing. Not all places are tweaker, some are just normal people in hard times for a short duration of their lives. Have fun exploring and God bless you!

The only Hidden Hills I found is a gated community next to Calabasas in the west San Fernando Valley. It's in the area where Koby Bryant's helicopter crashed, and is a ritzy, exclusive area.

@@splithoof9567 Obviously, a very upscale location even for California. Was the thing she picked up at the memorial a golf ball marker from a golf course/club named Hidden Hills as I surmised previously?
@davidjackson7281
@davidjackson7281 Жыл бұрын
@@splithoof9567 I am doubting my golf ball marker theory. Inspired by your information I found out, besides Jacksonville Florida, there are also Hidden Hills golf courses in Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, and Texas. But none appear to have a logo matching the font on the item she picked up at memorial which is probably not a golf ball marker. But thanks for the info on SoCal's Hidden Hills and for your best educated guess.

Yeah, that looked like a tweeker's encampment. But that's a good place for them. I don't like the idea of them living too close. The restraining order stuff looks like some of the trouble they can bring to an otherwise nice area. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but people trying to raise kids don't need the crap. Also, kudos the the ol' boy who sets up the memorials. He's a good soul. Lastly, thanks so much for NOT going into that fenced off area. No telling who's hiding out in there. Great video, Love. We all appreciate you more than you know❤

It would've been cool to mention that the different coins at the memorial mean different things. A penny means that you didn't know the person, but you are there visiting him along with the nickels, dimes & quarters. I believe the quarters mean that you served with him. I don't remember what the nickels & dimes mean. If you visit different cemeteries, especially cemeteries for veterans, you will come across different grave markers with the different coins on them.

You mentioned how cozy it is to sleep in a boat like that. I am the opposite of claustrophobic. As a kid the best toy to give me was a cardboard box, just big enough for me and a sleeping bag. Nowadays I’ve got a boat with a small cuddy cabin.

I'm very familiar with the weird stuff that you can find out in the deserts around Barstow, both to the southeast towards Helendale and the area north of Calico. There is no way I'd go exploring out there alone without an AR15. So many drug related compounds out in the desert. Even the abandoned shacks are death traps.

You need a pair of grippers. Then you could pick things up without touching them. Your face and hands would not get close to a hidden snake. The grippers are about 3 feet long. They should make those balloons out of a biodegradable plastic.
