One of the trucks I drove years ago had an oil cap like that one. We hooked a small piece of chain to a bolt and to the oil cap in case someone didn’t tighten it enough. That way we didn’t lose it.

Thank you for being honest with us. You feel the economy before the rest of us. I ran a small business in Calgary, Alberta and I felt a downturn in the economy when wholesalers started phoning me with unheard of deals. It is easy for us to comment yet you are the one who is paying the bills. I was tempted to spring for the deals. I did what I could until the "waters" settled down. Dan, get yourself a new fill tube and cap from Performance Diesel. Best thing I every got for may CAT, after losing those silly screw in rubber caps and oil blown all over. The rubber caps pop out if you tighten too much and not enough. Love your channel.

Some of the more worthy economists understand the direct relationship between the vigor of the transportation industry and the financial health on Main St. it may be a few years of just-breaking-even. If it hasn’t been mentioned early in the comments. Isn’t there usually a little chain on those Oil Fill Caps. If not maybe get one and you won’t lose it again. But then your a pretty smart dude, so you prolly already figured that out.

I just had a CAT reman engine put in the W900 i drive. Same oil fill set up as yours. I can't believe they couldn't find a way to make it more of a pain to get at. Maybe put a few muffler cooling hoses or water cooled steering box reservoir strategically placed around it. Dollar store funnel saved the day. Thankfully after the first service and change to syn blend no oil use.

Yes Dan I agree this is a bad time. Been out since 1976 with first truck. Still out here. close to retiring. Pull a step deck just run close to home. Only gone one or two nites a week. That is frustrating that people can't figure out if they need something or not. Had some loads cancel when I got to receiver. Refused the load, had to re consign to a broker who would buy it. Waste of time for sure Dan.

Elections (if it could even be called that) sure have consequences. Despite a lot of $2 plus a mile freight, fuel is highest it has ever been. Parts, tires, & consumables have literally doubled (replaced brakes one wheel $461. Last time it was $220 four years ago). Been in AZ a bunch these past months. Craftco has been my saving grace being right there. Remember ten years ago all the roll doors and the mines paid somewhat decent? The Owner Op I drove for ten yrs ago (Mercer) is selling out. My live on money, fuel allowance not put in the tank, sure has dwindled. I pat the dash on the ol' International and thank it for being such a good truck. No EGR, DPF/DEF failing garbage.
