Some of you guys complaint about this series being bad, wasting time or etc. As a Thai myself, I won’t convinced you that this series is perfect, cos it wasn’t. But here’s some details I’d like to provide so you can understand what this thing is all about. 1. First of all, don’t take this film as an thriller, action or investigation film. This film is a DARK COMEDY. So if you find anything completely nonsense in it. It’s director’s Dark humor. 2. The original of this remake built upon a context of Thailand’s “Tom Yam Kung crisis” in 1997. Where Thai government was force to let Thai Baht floated. Which leads to a collapse of Thai’s economy. Many businesses face their doom. As well as many lives wasted daily by a suicide to flee debts. So basically it’s a modern day chaos in Thailand. But in this series they’ve adapt it to oriented by CORONA VIRUS’s context instead. To be relatable by wider audience. Which is brilliant imo. 3. The downside of this film. Which leaves most of you guys extremely confuse. Is it’s very full of THAILAND ONLY context jokes. Which means you’ve to be Thai, or at least have stayed in Thailand before to fully understand it. For example as you can see in the ending of trailer, the Thai officer (At least most of ‘em) is extremely unhelpful, unless you’ve got either connections or money. Or an overly-friendly neighbor like Jim. Is really relatable and extremely awkward. 4. Some of you guys complaint about Davika being awful actress. To be honest, as I’ve watched her roles in may Romantic-Comedy films. (Which is boring as F. For me) this is one of best performance she deliver. It proves that she’s a real actress. Not just prettiest face around the corner. The emotional complexity she delivers in this role is really spot on. For example when she encounter Jim in her room she was so insecure. But then when she heard about potential body dumping site. She shows a glimpse of hope in her expression. But yet enveloped it with fear and uncertainty. Her character is like a Glass Cannon which can unleash destruction but also possibly can be break anytime. And Davika is living her character. 5. So what this movie is all about? Well, it’s about powerless girl. Who discovers an ULTIMATE POWER. (Which in this country is : MONEY) before she acquire that power she was really helpless. Can’t keep her job, her relationship with family. Or even her own privacy. As you see the film clearly separates people in three classes. Lower, middle and Higher class. The LOWER is just following “ORDERS”, The MIDDLE have to accept “REQUESTS” and The HIGHER is one who assigns “ORDERS” and “REQUESTS”. But all classes is just enslaved to Money power. As you can see others Middle class employees like Tum is not happy with requests at all. But only Tum, can really refuse the request. Cos she have a power. At first she thinks she have earns her freedom through this power. But then she learned that this power only brings chaos and bloodshed. Which this film represents these unfortunate events as “A Jokes”. A jokes that actually happened in Thailand irl. But it’s not kinda joke you’d laugh to. All the characters and classes get involved in this mayhem inevitably. Desperate Businessmen, Proud Drug Lord, Cops who seek only fame, Spineless Rapper, and helpless girl. Only few of them truly found their escape from these bad jokes. Others will never be.

Contrairement aux Coréens et aux Japonais les thaïlandais ne savent pas faire de séries. On n'aurait uniquement dit un film porno, vulgaire et sale qu'on ne peut même pas regarder en famille. Il n'y a que des scènes d'animaux. Aucune mais vraiment aucune histoire. Cette série ne sert à rien très fade ça donne envie de vomir. Et beaucoup trop lent dans l'histoire si il y'en a une. Les Coréens et les Japonais sont et resteront les meilleurs en termes de dramas. Comment pervertir la société dans pleins de séries pourris. Je préfère les séries des années 2000.

Quite the opposite. The original film called '6ixtynine9' released in 1999. A classic one, here in Thailand. And by skip-watching Dammalu Dummilu a little bit, I gotta say they really copied most of the iconic the situation from the original...(but with a terrible directing... sorry)

FYI. Many South Indian movies have acquired licenses from Thai films for remakes, such as 'Chaarulatha' and 'Alone,' which are adaptations of the Thai movies 'แฝด' or 'Notebook,'which an adaptation of คิดถึงวิทยา. These two movies obtained licenses legally. As for the movie you mentioned, I'm not sure, but one thing to consider is whether it is released 20 years after the Thai movie. If they simply adapt it without obtaining the necessary license, it could be considered plagiarism, making that Tamil cinema appear as a copycat well I dont' mind since India is the origin of Thai cilvilization so feel free to do adaption and claiming 😉 Im happy to share.
