I was at this show, by far the best concert ive ever seen. It was 4 hours long, and when all the lights came on and you saw 70,000 plus signing along it was incredible ,if im not mistaken he closed with twist and shout.

Love the Brucie muscles. i was a member at Gold's Gym at the time....Apparently Bruce was at the gym the night before for a late night workout... OMG I worked out on the same machines as Bruce!!! I have not washed my hands since. lol I Love Bruce Springsteen. I have not missed a concert (in north america)since Born to Run 1975. I think I may qualify for a stalker...Don't tell Patty

Every time I hear this, I always think: God bless Steve Dahl in Chicago. Driving home from work, Steve would begin his afternoon show with this song. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have ever heard it. RIP Clarence Clemmons💗

and.....Forever a Bruce fan. There is NO other concert like his: there are two kinds of music fans--those who have been to a Bruce concert and those who haven't. And, he is still relevant...as evidenced by the HUGE Bruce fan that my son and many of his friends are. Waiting for the next tour.

The other day, I was going through my old stuff and found my bootleg recording of that concert, on cassette. I bought it at a flea market in 1985. My goodness, this recording has changed my life back then. Now, it's on KZbin, which comes in handy.

Just watched Hyde Park cd, and was aching to revisit the 1984 CNE concerts that I went to....saw 2 concerts there, and they were my first Bruce concerts. Just saw him again in Jersey at Giants Stadium Oct 2009--with my twenty year old son and nephew! Bruce is just as good as ever! Next time he goes on tour I'm following him around ! Thanks for all the years, and the memories.

??? Last time I heard, he's still alive and touring. This was the soundtrack to my preschool years (my dad was a huge fan) but I never took him seriously until this past year. This is pure, glorious, American process cheese!

A song that was written specifically for The Ramones. If it weren't for Bruce's manager Jon Landau, it wouldn't have been recorded by the E Street Band. Just as "Cover Me" was specifically written for Donna Summer.

Sounds great, but may I point out that the song celebrates a husband and father who abandons his family. I guess it's OK though, because he had a huh-uh-un-ga-ry heart.
@MattSmith-iq1ld6 жыл бұрын
Bruce has mentioned that. Artists will often write music and a melody that is completely contradictory to the nature of the lyrics. It makes it weird. The most obvious example of this is The Police's "Every Breath You Take." Seductive love song, right? Read the lyrics. It's about a stalker. And people have gotten married to that song, saying that it's a symbol of their marriage!! As Sting says to such couples, "Good Luck." What's funny is that Bruce wrote this song for The Ramones. He never intended it for himself, but his manager begged him to keep it because he knew it was a major hit.
