Managed to get a rubber tube stuck in the dipstick canal of our 2008 Aura XR 6T70 so need to pull off the control module to try to get that tube out. I'm guessing some fluid will run out but how much not sure...

When I worked for the dealer back in the mid to late 00’s we couldn’t believe how the wave plates were breaking so often considering gm & Ford spent 3/4 of a billion dollars on this transmission. Also the engines had bad problems. We would see brand new engines with timing codes because the head was machined wrong so the cams had too much endplay.

Is there a way to determine cause of tcc lock up shutter without a complete tear down? 6t70 gen1. I used the transgo kit hoping the improved TCC parts would fix, but that didn’t eliminate it.

great video, looking forward to the going back together video. Have you seen one of these stall the engine going from 6 gear to 5 gear shift with tcc unlocking at same time. at about 40mph coast trans shifts down from 6th to 5th tcc goes off but it lugs engine and stalls it leaving you coasting with no power steering. repeatable everytime. the work around for now is manual shift to keep tcc from locking so we can drive it until i can get to repair. everything else working well engine wise. i need to understand the tcc 6th to 5th logic any ideas thanks.

I have a 2007 Saturn Aura (3.6l), 6t70. I have an offer from the local Automotive College to rebuild it, if I pull it. I was a mechanic back in the day. Any thoughts on this scheme? The instructor was a GM technician.

This unit had a bad low piston and a broken diaphragm in the converter causing lock up shutter and slipping in low range

@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 thanks Dave that was really important that I need to know the answer cuz I have one doing the exact same thing looks just like yours not much wear and tear inside the unit I suspect there was a problem with the converter itself. I'm going to recommend a converter a light kit and that Sonic's kit that you talked about thank you again. Keep the videos coming 😃😃

So was the filter the problem?also you mentioned that piston will cause nuetral to drive situations. That’s what my wife’s 2009 enclave is doing. I did the wave plates but didn’t change the piston. Maybe I should do that?

What is average cost for this? Do you recommend doing a fluid change/flush? Mine has 80k and I’m positive the fluid has never been changed. I get there’s no way to swap the filter without cracking it open. I’m just trying to get longevity out of it. Thanks 🙏

Im at 287000 miles on my 6T75. I've had converter lockup shudder since about 180,000. Multiple drain and fills can only do so much. Now it takes a moment to go into reverse. My question is can these transmissions be removed without the use of a lift?

Absolutely. When I started this shop I only did them on the floor on stands it's not as fun but it's very very manageable.

Hey David I was wondering if you could help me out you having the past I have this application in a 2012 Chevy Impala and when I'm driving in the mountains I get a message on the dash that says put car at idle transmission is hot now should I just flush out the radiator transmission cooler and hook up an external cooler and run it after or just bypass the radiator cooler and go right into an external cooler for the transmission I've read a lot of different posts about it and some say that certain newer transmissions won't operate properly if too cool so what is your opinion on what I should do I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know when you get a chance thank you very much...

Yep that's the one and way I do it is with a pipe I machined down that fits inside and has a driver welded on the end. Way I was taught was with a rubber mallet and an aluminum block.

I have the exact transmission,in a 2008 Pontiac g6 gxp- 6 speed auto... I had the car serviced...and they flushed my transmission....the very next day,when i was driving it,there was no power...only revved up...i didn't get any lights..etc..or codes?? Seems if i turn it off...restart i can go alittle ways..and it does it again.... Any help would be awesome... Called for a new transmission...and its gonna cost me over 6 Grand...once its all installed.... Way more then what i want to spend..

@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 it's a 2012 Chevy Impala with a 84,000 MI I just put a new transmission filter and new transmission fluid all factory recommended sometimes when I go from Park to drive it goes in hard sometimes it's so smooth like butter you can't even tell but I don't have any codes when I read the fluid level when it's cold and not running it's fine but when it's running the level of the fluid doesn't show on the dipstick

Then definitely add more fluid. The fluid should be between the bottom of the hot mark and the top of the cold mark idling in park.

@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 I didn't want to overfill it cuz I put 10 quarts I'm going to put it back together I put a half a quart in the torque converter but I did completely flush and clean out the transmission when I had it apart I hope that's all it is and thank you very much for your quick response I'm most likely going to rebuild the transmission completely which brand of transmission rebuild kit would you recommend for the 6t70 for my 2012 Chevy Impala and thank you so much again for your help I really appreciate it
