so as far as I understand it, there is engine braking during coasting in every gear except 1st? There's no forward overrun clutches like in the 4L60E

To a limited degree, yes. You still have to accout for the torque converter. A good portion of the time, the TCM will wont command the TC to lock at little to no throttle input for the sake of drivability and comfort. However, when the shiter is put into, the TCM will shift to the lowest safe gear to raise the engine RPM and will lock the TCM to provide a direct coupling to take advantage of engine braking.

Hi, how are you? Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Greetings from Mexico. I appreciate and understand the enormous effort you make. But I would like your videos to have Spanish subtitles. If your audience would be greater. Since in Spanish-speaking countries, the information is very limited.

Sir... could i ask you a question... is there something we can do to prolong the life of wave plate in a 6T40? like fully stop before shifting it from reverse to forward?
@siuautomotive3 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of. It’s just a poor design. Ford and GM made almost identical units and Ford doesn’t have the problem because they made a beefier wave plate. Gm has updated that wave plate though.

I've a nasty problem my 15 Fusion SE 2.5 L was hit on drivers side wheel and broke off CV axle and left end piece in transmission . What would be the best way to remove it ? It broke off clean flush against tranny and there's nothibng to grab a hold of . Is there a metal obstruction that would prevent pushing in approximately 3/8 in rod from other side banging it out ? Or get a piece and weld it to the broken piece and pull it out from drivers side ? Or bite the bullet get the seal out wasting all that fluid and replacing both fluid and seal ?

@22:38 you say "I know it's confusing but also kinda brilliant" - when the teacher says this, IMO they haven't gone far enough to eliminate the confusion. My questions are all about "how is it held" and "WTF is the 2-6 clutch and why is that different than a 1-2-3-4 clutch" and god....so many questions. When I watch break down videos you guys always race through this stuff like it's so basic and obvious but it isn't. You don't realize you're explaining things that don't make sense without even more basic knowledge. I guess thanks for trying. Maybe someone got something out of this but I sure didn't.

Not to sound rude but you stated "You don't realize you're explaining things that don't make sense without even more basic knowledge" . This video isn't meant as a beginner video for basic knowledge. There's so much information and so much to learn about transmissions that this isn't the video to start with. Check into videos that explain shift solenoids, valve body operation and things of that nature. That will teach you what he means what is being held or driven and what causes a component to be held or driven.
