You can't explain how an artist's mind works😘. Your video just came on time, when I was looking for how to bring a pumpkin image to life, it's kind of bland and lifeless. So it gave me ideas. Just a question: I don't have Faber Castel, would distress markers be a good substitute, and should I do it the same way you do here? I know, I have learned from you, to apply mod podge to make a paper none porus. Thanks for teaching us to create.

It will work but each layer with the marker will not dry as fast… and you can’t build up layers because everytime it will reactivate the previous layer. Hope that makes sense. Make sure you try the technique first on scraps.

I'm really enjoying this series. You have been an inspiration for me to start art journaling. I don't have a lot of confidence doing highlighting like you do 11 minutes in. Aside from "just have fun," which I do; do you have any advice?

I only add a few touches around the cutouts, making the lines quick and without outlining them all over... less is more in this technique. Also because this is a sealed surface you can wipe off the white gel pen with a baby wipe... so it is very forgiving if you don't like your lines.
