I know that Topanga's parents were getting divorced but she was freakin' depressed. I mean she is a grown woman , she could at least try to understand and make peace with it than let it bring her down. Also I don't like how they are insinuating that Angela follows Topanga's lead. She is capable of making her own mind about whether or not she wants to be with Shawn.

I totally understand Topanga's sadness about her parents' divorce and her negative feelings, but she annoyed the hell out of me throughout this entire "anti-love" segment. Cory knew the whole time she was full of crap when she said she didn't love him anymore, and what she was putting Cory through was completely unfair. Just because it didn't work out with her parents doesn't mean they won't work out. Topanga was being very selfish and self-centered. I'm sorry, but she was.

Does anyone else feel like the main antagonist of the later seasons is Topanga, or rather her estrogen? Earlier it was issues like her parents moving or other men/women or Cory's parents even, but towards the end it's just "Oop, 'Pangers went loony again." I just feel like it undermines emotional moments like "I love Cory Matthews; I'm taken" and all the other times her resolve was solidified when every few episodes, they write her a typical female drama freakout over something unrelated or insignificant.

Is that the excuse? It isn't here, but in other episodes? Because I dare say, it's what was of the times. This show is dated after all. Have you seen Friends? It's a constant commentary on keeping up negative ideas of masculinity. That show aged poorly. I would be surprised if this one didn't have its moments.

In total fairness, when you put it that way it's not *too* dissimilar to Shawn abruptly ending the relationship with Angela in s6 because he was scared of getting hurt, but I think in the case with Shawn there was just so much more build up and emotional baggage that made it make sense. It wasn't just his parents' relationship going sour (which definitely happened as well), but also them both having up and left him on his own, so the abandonment issues and fear of giving in to how deeply he felt about Angela felt a lot more earned. Not to make light of how hard it would be if you've always believed your parents had a great relationship only to find out it didn't work out, but still.. that's a really big leap for that to be enough to make someone afraid of being with the person they've literally loved their entire life.
