The San Francisco Mint, 90% silver ones are the ones to get if you want them for yourself, IMO.

The only modern coins I will buy are the SILVER proofs of the state quarters and the ATB coins. I just look on Ebay regularly and try to pick up the mint issued coin sets as cheap as I can. I try not to pay more than $3.50/coin with shipping. If you are patient you will find them at that price here and there. I figure the only way to make money on these coins is if silver price takes off again, which I think it will. They made way too many of these coins and probably 80% of them out there are nice proofs, so the numismatic price will most likely never go up much from where they are now.

I have a lot of coins and tokens and can't see well enough to sit and frustrate myself trying to see doubles and even mint marks and dates! Some are in jackets and marked 4$ but were bought 50 years ago, and some are dirty and still in the wrap but I can't see anything! Most are loose,but the ones bought were bought many years ago and almost all errors. Also some beautiful foreign coins that surprised me with how little they're worth! The best one is a little token with a dolphin I think a half penny. Would you take them on consignment and just a handshake for half of any profit after cost and use your skill to judge them to see if they are worth grading or selling for a couple bucks? i don't have long, or the eyes and knowledge, but lots look odd and different, in size, metal and I could narrow it own some , but I've already died twice, and my family would just toss them if I die! Even the old Chicago car wash tokens are are 2-4$ per. maybe nothing big, but they will fetch something, and who knows? Not me! I can't see, and have medical issues. they are printing currency like no tommarro , might no be. Kids cant be bothered! Let me know. The offer favors you, like a lottery because you look honest.

I've got a valuable collection of mint errors, worth up to $1K each, and it doesn't bother me if they are in ANACS holders. I mean, I don't automatically make a lower offer just because a coin is in an ANACS holder. I'd miss out on a bunch of great error coins if I restricted myself to PCGS and NGC. Maybe other people see it differently.

I stopped buying sets from the mint because of all those quarters . Personally I think these people have too much money to pay 7k for a state quarter . Well to each their own, if it makes them happy. I just look at it as I could buy a real nice old coin for that . Maybe some of those WI quarters have more corn kernels on them and they can buy thousands of them and count the kernels …. just kidding.I think the mint would be better off coming up with some new ideas about the coins they make , especially low mintage coins.Just think if they turned the press on at the CC museum and made 50,000 coins (of a good design) they would sell good.
